Pixar's Newt cancelled

This is particularly sad news for me.

I am a committed Pixar fan and was looking forward to this film.

And now I don't get to see it.


Why should it matter that similar films are coming out?

Pixar will bring their own style and creative flair to the story, making it unique even if the themes are similar to something else being released.
 
If you look at the trailer for the film Alpha and Omega which is coming out - they are basically the same.

Two animals, male and female, re-located by science to repopulate there species. Thing is the male and female hate each other. Cue plot. :p
 
Well, basically, it's about the last 2 blue footed newts left, a male and female.

The idea is they need to get together to save their species from extinction, but they can't stand each other.

The theme of the movie was about the choices you make in a partner, even if there is only one choice to make.


As for Alpha and Omega, I've never heard of it.
