FOR MY GRAMMAR

I always called you "grammar"
And I loved to see your smile
When I'd stop by after college
To have a biscuit and chat awhile.

All you wanted was our happiness
You'd tell me I was a "lovely girl"
And you didn't find me impertinent
When I'd call you "Mother-of-Pearl".

You always had a treat for us
A special pudding, cake or pie
You loved everyone of my jokes
Though I know they make others cry.

Every Sunday you'd ask me
For more and more books to read
In school, you took up my Shakespeare
To keep me upto speed.

How proud you were of your Sheba
And all the tricks she knows
She was your constant shadow
Pawing gently at your toes.

I know I'm very lucky
To have had you for twenty-two years
But I miss you so much grammar
So please forgive these stupid tears.

I think when you write loving things like this, she looks down on you and smiles. That was very sweet.

Writing like this is a good therapy when life's tragic events happen. It can also teach us to be more creative. I do a lot of this kind of writing, but share very little of it.

That was a wonderfully touching poem. I love grammas that are like that. Those are some of the best grammas ever, and from your poem we can see that your gramma was by no means no exception. ^_^ *hugs*

thanks.:) She was amazing.. Really cool. She beat cancer some years ago..
Though she was 82, she was sharper, and more alert than three of us put together. She showed absolutely ZERO signs of old age mentally. And almost none physically, except slight slowness, with time.
She travelled (in fact, she went all the way to Canada just last year!),
went to church everyday, worked with the St. Vincent de Paul group, doing charity, looked after her (our) doggy. ran the nursery school along with my mum. Cooked up all sortsv delish things.
I honestly don't know what she didn't do! Brilliant, brilliant strong woman.
We love her, and we're never gonna stop missing her.
