I think I'm coming up with an idea for an RP. As of today 8/14/2010 it is only an idea and has not been submitted to the mods for approval.

Here are the main bones of the body.

Setting.
It will be in the days of LWW, beginning with rumors of humans in Narnia and culminating with the Coronation of the Kings and Queens and the beginning of Narnia's Golden Age.

Characters
Assorted characters, All Narnian talking animals. Characters may end up siding with the Narnia Army or the White Witch's. However, if any character sides with the White Witch, he/she will be defeated (with the option of surrendering and pledging allegiance to the the new Narnia).

No Mary Sues and Gary Stus character, with the exception of, maybe, a prophetic Centaur. Go to the link for a description of Mary Sue.

Characters cannot be the characters from the book. Players must create a character that was not directly connected to the those of the book so that a connection can be established during the role play.

Maybe some human characters may come in from Archenland, but that would not be in the initial stages of the RP.

The Proposed Story Line
In five parts (or more depending)

Part I. Rumors.
The first rumors of Humans in Narnia begin to trickle down throughout the country. Characters begin to hope and to make plans.

Part II. Calling.
Characters heed their own private calling. Aslan's calling or the White Witch's, they must make a free-will choice. Characters begin to connect with the events described in the book and those characters.

Part III. Gathering
Characters begin to gather to their side of chosen allegiance. They may or may not meet the Kings and Queens, Aslan, or the White Witch. They learn of their role in the upcoming battles.

Part IV. Struggle
The struggles between the 2 forces. The death and Resurrection of Aslan. The battle. Other minor skirmishes. etc.

Part V. The Result.
The Coronation, The New Narnia, appointments to government, scattering of the evil army remnants, etc. The beginning of the Golden Age.

Pat VI- The Golden Age?

PM ME.
If you are interested in participating in this RP, please PM me. If you have other ideas, I would be interested in hearing them. After I have all set, with the initial charies and plot, I will submit to Inkling and Ephinie for approval.

MODS.
One thing I would want from the mods is freedom for all the characters to live and work wherever they want, to hear the rumors, their calling, to make their choice, and to interact with any other character in any way they want. Of course this will be done within the limitations of the canon and without forming alliances outside the allegiance to Aslan or the White Witch (friendship groupies are ok).

I will edit and expand this RP as I get suggestions or get better ideas. When I think it's ready I will submit it for approval. Thanks.

P.S. If you say that this is similar to any existing mod-controlled thread, then that's ok. This new RP and the players will have much more freedom than the one afforded to those threads so the character stories will be a lot different.

The Players so far:

BarbarianKing - A faun
Trisscar - A wolf
Aslans Messanger - A griffin
Mozart the Meerkitten - Cat (s)

I said from the start that having real, live players on both sides of the good-evil divide would run a risk of hard feelings. If this RP takes off, though, I might assume an evil character, FOR THE PURPOSE of having him lose in the end.

A person who would think he or she will develop hard feelings if things don't go their way should refrain from participating in ANY RP. We know how the story ends in LWW so if anyone wants to participate, they should at least read the book once.

This reminds me of what we were trying to do in one of the RP's before but it ended (or rather didn't end) *ahem* rather badly....

And I have a question: I have my two cat characters (Flower and Midnight) in the existing RP threads can I transfer them here (if the RP is accepted of course) with different backround and stuff? Or should I make up new characters? Because if that is at all a problem I have plenty of other cats I can base characters off of....:)

Either way though I will most definatly be participating.:D

The only problem in bringing characters from other threads is the confusion this may cause. What if the other thread becomes active again? You may still need them there. It is best to come up with new characters. However, if anyone STILL wants to transfer their characters, I don't have a problem with it, just understand that the setting and story will be different. The mods may object though.

Hmmmm...A Few Thoughts...

I'm wondering, since, as has been pointed out, there are some definite similarities between your proposal and the "Let it Snow" game, whether it would be possible to use your plan as a way to prod the RP into action.

Part of what happened is my fault, admittedly. I got busy, and it seems like without me guiding the RP, it didn't take on a velocity of its own. I would like to see that changed, and it is fairly obvious that it will take a suggestion to start things going again.

The plot line is basically what "Snow" allows for, and even your rules are basically what mine are. What are your thoughts about helping things get going again using the game we have?

I don't see any of the "freedoms" you've requested as problematic. Unless there's something I'm not seeing. Characters have always been allowed to interact with one another and choose sides as makes sense. Mary Sues should RP elsewhere ;).

Also, I really appreciate that you're trying to work with the mods, BK. That should make this easier. I'm not saying no, I just want to clear up a few things.

I see no reason why that wouldn't be possible. In fact, that's a large part of the reason I'd like to try and make it work to continue the game we've got in progress if we can.

That way nobody who has characters or storylines going will have to lose them. Copperfox, I thank you for trying to keep things going when I haven't been around to do so.

Careful, Inkling. You go talking nice to me, and you might get another sonnet written about you!

Just out of, ahem, idle curiosity, which operas/musicals were you in recently?

I really am more interested in starting something new so as to give existing players a chance to start all over and new players also the chance to experience a story from the beginning. I think that if the existing players in "Snow" want to continue the story, they should all get together and talk about it.

If you still think this is too similar to that RP in "Snow," then I'll try to come up with a different storyline somehow.

Christine, if the icejam doesn't give way soon--or even if it does, as a thing to do in addition--you can independently write a _story_ about Thalia. My "Alipang Havens" epic came into existence because a roleplay was discontinued.

I support BK's idea to start a new one independant of Snow. With his idea there is a movement and a model and it will be less hard to stay a float because we have a clear beginning point and an ending their will be no arguement of how it turned out. With Snow, we know that the witch eventually wins the battle but there is so much room to argue as to how much of a victory she wins. There is room to argue about whether the witch was able to annihilate the humans and whether the resistance is able to keep a foothold.

On a nother note, Trisscar, you don't happen to be a Percy Jackson fan, do you? Thalia is a good name.

I have read the first book from percy jackson...but I was just looking through greek mythology names, and liked that one.

*raises paw to ask a question*

If this RP comes into being do we have to go into the "CHaracter creation" thread make a character up and wait (*cough*a really long time*cough*) for the mods to approve it/them? Because I'd like to have three kitten characters- Autum, Milky and O'Malley in the new RP- that is if it comes together.... thats another thing- could we have more than two characters in this thread? Just wondering.:)

No. The players shouldn't have to go through the character creation thread because their characters will not need to be approved by the mods (hence the reason I asked for more freedom). Multiple characters should be ok, but I would prefer that everyone starts with one character first and develop the story with a good solid base. After a clear story has been established, then players should be able to control more than one character.

I think this is a good idea. My biggest problem with the forum change is that when they split the RPG into 10 different areas, the players tended to get stuck in only that area (for instance some people would only stay in the Witch's castle while others would stay in the plains). As a result the RPG felt very disconnected and it was hard to follow the story...cause I'm not going to read all of the other posts if none of the characters have anything whatsoever to do with my character. And when there are less RPG players (in a sense each section was its own little RPG), the RPG tends to fail.

That was probably part of the problem. I think the biggest one was the format in that the mods had to be present for the story to move. When the mods could not come in, the rp stalled and that was not good.

I believe that the reason WHY the Mods felt the need to be present for all play was because the games were allowed to be adversarial. If there were a roleplay in which all player characters would be for Aslan, OR all player characters would be for the White Witch or other villain, there would be less occasion for inter-player friction that Mods would need to mediate.

Mike, you remember the "Into Other Worlds" roleplay site. It still is active to this day, and as far as I've seen there is no all-out head-on player-character-against-player-character fighting there. Yet the remaining regulars don't seem to feel shortchanged on fun.
