Years ago I see some dock workers in Hong Kong wearing hats like this one, except the rims of the hat curved inward starting about 1/3 way near the edge, rather then being flat. The idea that the hat is made of a reedy material is more likely in keeping of Mashwiggle culture then one woven from cloth.
