Question regarding movie

When Lucy first opened the wardrobe door, several white balls rolled out onto the floor. They didn't seem to have any significance (that I or my grandson could discern) and it never happened again when the wardrobe door was opened. So what were those balls and why did they roll out onto the floor the first time Lucy opened the wardrobe door?

im pretty sire they were moth balls, that are found in old wardobes. They just came and tumbled out when Lucy went in because she was the fist person in there for a long time.

those were moth balls, they were in the wardrobe so the moths wouldn't eat the clothes. They rolled out i think because they were lying against the wardrobe-door and just feel out when Lucy opened it.
