Simon

Who are these men?
They come performing wonders
More real than mine
Much greater than mine

They preach His name
They preach about Him
The kingdom of God
Who is this Christ?

Take my riches
Take my fame
Take my everything
Just give me Jesus

Pray to the Lord for me
Rid me of this wickedness
I'm sorry
Give me Jesus

What is this
That I have done?
My heart is not right
With God

Deep inside
Poisoned
By bitterness
Bound by iniquity

Take my riches
Take my fame
Take my everything
Just give me Jesus

Pray to the Lord for me
Rid me of this wickedness
I'm sorry
Give me Jesus

Take my riches
Take my fame
Take my everything
Just give me Jesus x2

Well, I wrote this song back in April. When I did, I had been writing alot of lyrics, and I knew I was supposed to write about something... it just wasn't happening. So, to try to get inspiration, I opened my Bible to a random spot and found Acts 8, which talks about Simon. After spotting and read verses 9-25 about three times, I wrote this. I felt it ended off on a note of longing for Christ, because he did turn from his ways and want God, which was the reason for the chorus. The actual music I've done for this is only a bit of piano, but I must admit it's got a funky bass line that all my friends liked

Thank you for posting this! I would much rather believe that, after Peter's sharp rebuke, Simon the former sorceror did really get right with God. There's no reason it couldn't happen.

My evangelist friend Bill Rudge, based in Pennsylvania, has been used by God to lead voodoo practicioners in Haiti to a saving knowledge of Jesus. Whatever it looks like sometimes, God IS more powerful than any evil force.

No problem :) And I completely agree with you on that.

That's so cool about your friend! The church I grew up in, the pastors son has been going to Central American counties ministering to the witch doctors. I admire someone who can do that. It's always good to be reminded of God's power and its infinite extent. :)

Beautiful lyrics.
Although the passage is written to illustrate that even when when people come to the knowledge of God, they still think they can "buy" God.
But there is nothing to say that you cannot repent from after being rebuked. Many do.
