TDL VDT Scrip Project!

I’m sure all of you have heard about the leaked script and how it wasn't very good. So I thought why don’t we write our own script of what we would like to see in the movie and send it to the script writers. We are the fans, the people who are going to spend our hard earned money to see Voyage of the Dawn Treader. And I think this would be a good way to show the people at Disney and the new director and everyone else involved what the fans want to see in the next movie.
So here’s what we’re can do. People can volunteer to write a certain part, if there’s a certain part in the book you love and want to make sure it’s done right you can write that. Or someone can write some, and then someone can write the next part. We can do it however we want.
And everyone can help!!

I just don't have time anymore to write a finished section. But I have a suggestion on principle.

Movies understandably want to have some action to offer the audience. "Voyage of the Dawn Treader," in all honesty, doesn't have much. This doesn't mean that the book was boring, I love the book as it is; but we should not absolutely refuse to let ANY action sequences be added. The question, then, is WHAT sort of action can be added and NOT ruin the story?

The first, best, most harmonious possibility is the unsuccessful pirate attack, which is already a "fact" in the book, it just wasn't shown. There should be no problem at all doing a flashback. Lucy, Edmund and Eustace have been brought aboard the Treader and reunited with Caspian and Reepicheep. The pirate attack is mentioned in dialogue....and we simply do the flashback, so the audience can SEE it happening, complete with both Caspian and Reepicheep being allowed to do something or other suitable to the occasion. Maybe Caspian ties a line to an arrow, shoots the arrow with Reepicheep RIDING ON the arrow, and hauls Reepicheep back to the Treader after the swordsmouse has cut away the pirate flag as a trophy.

That scene, if well done, MIGHT be enough to let the rest of the book proceed unspoiled. If more action is demanded, the next-most-compatible options are:

1) Give the island slave-traders a deserved butt-kicking.

2) Jazz up the sea-serpent attack a little.

3) Have some kind of flesh-and-blood monsters be present in the vicinity of the Island of [Bad] Dreams, so they can be fought.

Thanks! Those are really good ideas. Do you have any sugestions on how to do the part where Eustace is turned into a dragon? I was thinking of basacly doing it the same as it is in the book. But when Eustice is trying to mive, have the screen really dark, not black but really dark. So you cant see that he's a dragon.

Wow, what a great idea!!! :p

hmm, for the Eustace/dragon part, have the camera shots be as if it were through his eyes, so that you never see that he's a dragon. that would keep the element of surprise in there.

I agree with Copperfox on the action part. VDT lacks it! I think that Walden Media will probably play up the slave trader scenes with more action. Caspian's little band of island recruits will prolly have to fight their way into the Govenor's office, or something or the like. I also like the idea of a 'pretend' fight on the Island of Dreams.

I also think that Aslan should be in the film more! I think he was all but left out of PC, which made me terribly sad.
