The Battle Scene

This battle scene was masterfully intertwined with symbols from many different forms of fiction and non-fiction literature, etc. Describe these elements of fiction and non-fiction devices you discovered, throughout this fantastic quest for strength, honor and valiancy.

Where are you getting these questions from, out of curiosity? Are these study questions for a class you're taking? They sound very much like something a school teacher would ask.

I want to be a teacher.

Back to the uh...''assignment''(does finger motion)
I don't know anything about whatever it is you said, but
That was my favorite scene.
But it stinks that they made the White Witch die,
she's one of my FAVORITE characters. :(

Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

My mom is an English teacher so symbolism is noted. Look at the unicorn for instance. It was white and unicorns are said to be noble, innocent, pure creatures. It is fitting that he falls though, because it shows that in war, innocent are hurt.

And that is just one thing. Do you want more?

Battle symbolism

Here's one idea:

The Narnian army featured leopards and cheetahs (and later, a lioness), big cats with black spots on a yellowish coat. Cats all known to live in warm climates. The Witch's army had white tigers with black stripes. Cold-looking animals of which some species live in very cold climates.

Ooh! I totally adored the battle scenes! In fact, every time I watch LWW, I always end up watching all the scenes with the Battle in it. So great, and with the Extn. Ed. I love how they added those bat-like things and showed more of the Phoenix.

I wasn't pleased with the way the witch died in the movie, I do not have my LWW book right now but wasn't she 'frightened' to death at the end of the battle scene? In the movie, it makes it look as though Aslan chewed her head off but I remember something in the book about looking into his eyes and her heart stopped? Maybe I'm thinking of another tale?

No, Aslan did physically kill Jadis in the book. But since you bring it up:

The movie's director argues that Aslan pausing for an instant before finishing off the Witch somehow makes His action look LESS vengeful. I don't see this; it's precisely the pause which, to me, makes it seem as if Aslan is gloating over having her at His mercy. I think they really wanted to get in one last closeup of Tilda Swinton's face. But the way the movie scene went, killing Jadis instantly would not have seemed vindictive; we could think of it as Aslan thinking only of saving Peter's life.

I thought it was great how they showed it in the movie. He leaps, presumably bites her in the throat as big cats do with their prey to kill them... she stares, she dies.;) And I'm a White Witch fan by the way.

Yeah, I loved the way they did it. Because you could tell she became mesmerized, therefore unable to do anything. The only thing that peeved me, was that when she comes to Aslan's camp, and she's all like 'blahblah Edmund = traitor OMG', she stares into his eyes, and in the book they said that she never looked into his eyes directly. But yeah...heh. I loved the Battle scene, it was my favourite one.

I have yet to get my extended DVD four disc set so I'm really looking forward to more battle stuff.

HOMIGAWD, IT'S AMAZING. But I'm really glad they took out what they did, because it looked a bit ... tacky. Like the graphics weren't as good as everything else. But dood...I was SO surprised. Haha, it's awesome, you'll love it.
