I am not sure if this is the right place to put this but:

Does anybody else (besides me of course) have this book: http://www.amazon.com/Music-Lord-Rings-Films-Comprehensive/dp/0739071572 and would like to discuss it/the subject?

It comes with a disc of music not used in the film (you can hear some of the tracks here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wjFf5-dTCRo)

The book itself is very good, it goes into deep analysis of the 70+ odd musical motif's/idea's/themes of LOTR, and then each track, it also includes lyrics for every song and solo/choir piece in the score, and even has glimpses at the cue sheets.

No I don't have that book. I have a lot of LOTR books and the music is epical. I do have a DVD which is all about the music of the LOTR and Howard Shore is taking us with him into his world. Awesome! Are you LOTR fan too Faleel?

Oh yes, I am a LOTR fan, In fact I took the Complete Recordings, and Added all the music in the Original OST but was replaced with new material for the EE in CR's and plus some other pieces of music (from games and DVD rips) and put them at the end as bonus tracks.

and the Rarites Archive CD included with the Book is a musthave IMO

I LOVE the Complete recordings!! I still have to get TTT complete recordings but I will get that one!!! LOTR is like my life. It means the world to me! Oh yes the books have so many good in them. The music is so great and I am amazed how every theme fits every scene

What is really amazing, is how many musical themes there are. there is like one for every character and his dog, then there are times when a character has 2 themes (Gandalf in Nature, and Gandalf in the Fellowship for example) for different surroundings and "Levels"

I always love the Bridge of Khazad Dûm Theme and especially the voice of Ben. Amazing! yes there are so many different themese and they all works so well and fit perfectly

I really like how Shore was going to use the Gondor theme for the battle in the prologue to the first film, though I prefer the OST version of "Lighting of the Beacons" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zMGRAvn_4S8 is the OST, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=db6XpZE5uN8), and I like that Theatrical version of the Gondor theme appearance in "The Shieldmaiden of Rohan" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eKgRQoVefFw) AND the unused bit for when gandalf sees the orcs tearing up the trees at Orthanc/Isengard (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dW3-mQG19jg&feature=related) at 2:05 in "Out of Bree" (Theatrical) and its re-use in "The Uruk-hai (Alternate)" for saruman's talk about orcs being elves once (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uP3Ha8C1Sz8), and of course the Trailer music for ROTK (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FUJ3mK11X5E&feature=related) and the alternate "The Argonath" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8IpDyT9WL8)

though my all time favorite action cues have to be "The Wolves of Isengard" with the passage for Hardanger Fiddle, and "The Breach of the Deeping Wall" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V7LqExwP8pc) and The Bridge of Khazad-Dum expecially the moment when gandalf blows up the Balrog's flame sword at 4:45 almost says "Balrog, gandalf pwned you", and then the silver trumpets theme at the beginning of "The Mirror of Galadriel" which also appears in "Minas Tirith" A.K.A. "The Grace of Undomiel"

sorry about the gushing, long post, but I am very passionate about this score.

Yes, it is wonderful when you can hear how a piece of music, apart from any sung words, is "talking" to you. Are you aware that Tchaikovsky's "1812 Overture" is actually a step-by-step depiction of Napoleon's unsuccessful invasion of Russia?

I didnt know that, do you know what the William Tell overture tells about (besides the obvious apple shooting)
