It's just a beginning, so it might not continue.
The Night Fire
Prologue
A cold wind chilled my spine down cold. Why was I here, in this awkwardly small caravan, going down to some freezing lake?
When we went down a rocky, steep hill, I noticed that, bundled in the scratchy blanket, I wasn't fastened onto a seat or anything. We tumbled down at such force and speed that when we actually began going steadily again, I was bruised and bloodied.
The harsh voice of a man pushed me aside and out of the caravan. Untying the ropes, I looked into the bearded face of him.
“C’mon, girly, we got to get you on the ice before the thieves catch up!” he warned.
“You’re the thieve!”
He looked at me, and then sighed.
“No, I kidnapped you because you’re a part of the prophecy.”
“A prophecy?!”
A blast of hot air shot from behind us. The man yelled at me to begin running along the ice, and he quickly attached skates to them by some amazing device.
“Go!” he yelled; I jumped onto the ice and began skating. I had done this before, skating in hard competitions against my three older brothers.
The thieves had a way to get around, though, and melted a part of the lake. That caused everything to crack, and we got to the other side just before the cracks caused a breaking of the lake.
It doesn't sound like there's going to be a night fire, but believe me, you'll see.
