The word "like"

Do you, like, hate the word "like"?

Okay, like, does anybody, like, get tired of, like, how people, like, say, like, "like" all the time? Like, it's so annoying.... like! It's like... people, like, don't have any, like, other words in their, like, vocabulary. Like, SERIOUSLY! GEEZ!

Oh, like, and BTW... I like, TOTALLY hate hypocrites.

P.S. Typing all these "likes" is making me think of lieke... :p
 
Yes, I despise it; it's so unintelligent. ;)

I only dislike the word when it's overused, or used where it shouldn't be.

Now,nope,not at all.I don't know if I'm desensitized to it,or I've grown to like it,or I simply don't notice.But hey,compared to what words come out of msot people's mouths,"like" seems pretty lame.:p
 
I use it a lot, but not to the point of being annoying. I've never talked to anyone who used it to the point of it being annoying. so no, I don't hate it.

I use it most often, as most teenagers do, as a substitute for said. As in;
"And I was like _______ and then he was like __________ and I was like ________"
You get the idea.
 
I have a friend who uses "like" literally every other word. :rolleyes: And she's really smart, in the top 5% of my class or something and she's going to college to major in biochemistry or something, it's funny to hear her talk. "Like, like, like." Gah!!! :p

Okay, I went through a phase where I said "like" way too much, haha, but now days I try to subsitute it for "all." Like, (oops...) instead of "And he was like ___, and I was like ___" I say "And he was all ____, and I was all _____." Slightly less annoying I hope :p
 
The word doesn't bother me if it's being used when you say 'I really like _____' or 'you're like one of my friend' but if you just use it every other word like a friend of mind it gets old . . . fast!
 
It bugs me when used in extreme excess, like when it's literally used as a verb, adverb, and adjective in one sentence.
 
Well it's, like, likely to stick like glue whether you like it or not. Until the next big thing.

The particle word of my generation was "uh" and, uh, it would come at, uh, all the moments you, like, didn't know what to say.

Maybe we should invent a new one for TDL. I suggest "murphle!"

THAT explains all the baby boomer news analysts saying "uh" all the time! I never understood until now; thank you for telling us that. :)

But seriously, it can get very annoying when it's overused... I use it sometimes, but not (had I been saying this aloud I would have used the word like here ;)) every other word. :cool:
 
Funny, my cousin told me one time I used the word 'like' alot and it was a bit annoying. Then her older brother said that it was part of becoming a teenager and growing up and that she'd start to use it more too.;):p

As I recall the conversation was around that, but I'm not quoting anything here.:p
