Top Ten Movies of 08

I didn't see the thread below me on the same topic. Oh, well. Merge it or something (besides, people in that thread have no taste. Narnia as a top ten? Prince Caspian was crap compared to these movies)

1. The Dark Knight (Only movie I've actually seen twice at the movies)
2. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (AMAZING, got me emotional. Planning to see again with girlfriend at the movies. Edit: I saw it on New Year's Day again.)
3. Slumdog Millionaire (REALLY good coming-of-age type story. Danny Boyle is win)
4. Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr. Awesome robot suit. #4)
5. The Wrestler (Mickey Rourke!)
6. Wall-E (Pixar. <3)
7. Gran Torino (Clint Eastwood is back!)
8. In Bruges (One of the only good Collin Farrell movies, lol)
9. Valkyrie (Surprisingly good for a Tom Cruise flick)
10. Wanted (Action - Check. Jolie - Check. Curving bullets - Check.)

:D I just saw Benjamin Button today. Honestly, if that won Best Picture instead of "The Dark Knight" I really wouldn't mind. It was just as good, if not better than that.

1. Narnia. it was clean, no language, no sex, fairly clean violence. most of these other films listed had all the above...except the clean part.

2. Wall-E. Pixar seems to always do amazing things with making films into good things when you think they'd be failures. Honestly, I don't see how they could have made the robots any cuter.

I can't think of any other films I saw this year...oh wait, Expelled. I didn't finish all of it but it was okay. not a top ten but worth mentioning.

3. A Kiss at Midnight. Hallmark film, but really good. No language and it is so funny!

I do'nt think I saw many new films this year....last year I mean. I'm sure I have i Just can't think of them. ugh.

I really want to see that soon. I think it's wonderful how he's exposing the schools for what they do, but I still disagree with his views on ID (i.e. he still believes the earth is billions of years old). Still, I've gotta see that sometime.

1 The Dark Knight
Maybe the best movie I have watched ever.
2 Prince Caspian
In my opinion, better than part 1, exciting, thrilling fantasy story.
3 Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
Good, funny, nostalgic and interesting. After all these years, Harrison Ford still rocks.
4 Clone Wars
The hiss of lightsabers clashing can make even an animation cool!
5 Dragonlance: Dragons of the Autumn Twilight
Another cartoon movie, which brought one of my favorite books on DVD.
6 Jumper
Very cool movie, with likable and charismatic characters - heroes and villains alike.
7 Fire and Ice
A Romanian TV movie. I liked it because of the fantasy atmosphere. It was nothing special, but still it charmed me.
8 Hellboy 2
Because of the elven villain and the way he fought :)
tie Mummy 3
Like Indy, fun, cool, and nostalgic, although not quite as good as the Crystal Skull.

1. Bolt
2. Niko and the way to the Stars
3. Madagascar 2
4. Roadside Romeo
5. Horton hears a Who!
6. The Dark Knight
7. Alvin and the Chipmunks
8. Beverly Hills Chihuahua
9. The Strangers
10. Mirrors

1. Milk (Sean Penn, Emile Hirsch, James Franco, Josh Brolin) - directed by Gus Van Sant
My favourite movie, as of the day I saw it. It's SO GOOD, and I encourage everyone to see it (if you can - it's rated R, plus it's only in some theaters).

2. The Dark Knight (Christian Bale, Heath Ledger) - directed by Christopher Nolan
Really a good movie, especially Heath Ledger. Without him it wouldn't have been worth the $7.50+, though.

3. Prince Caspian (Georgie Henley, Skandar Keynes, Anna Popplewell, William Moseley, Ben Barnes) - directed by Andrew Adamson
Very good, I think. :)

Movies I want to see that are supposedly very good:
1. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
2. Slumdog Millionaire
3. Wall-E

I would see The Wrestler, but Mickey Rourke just ... bleugh. There's something about him that throws me off.

I loved "Indiana Jones: The Crystal Skull".:D
But it was kind of different from the first 3 movies. First of all, he was fighting the Germans, now he's fighting the Russians. And the 4th movie was about aliens, the others were about mainly history and magic.

I saw both Milk and Frost/Nixon yesterday with my friends. I would probably put Milk at #4 and Frost/Nixon at around #6. Top 12 movies, then ;)

EDIT: It depends on where you live on whether Frost/Nixon came out in 08 or 09. I'm counting it as 08.

Same as Milk. It came out in smaller, independent/indie theaters but I think it's coming to general release soon.

GASP #4? But it was SO GOOD. :p I loved it loved it loved it. New favourite film, eh?

I'm going to add both Doubt and Revolutionary Road somewhere in that list, I don't really care where, haha. Happy Go Lucky should be somewhere in there as well.

I'd like to add: Seven Pounds wasn't horrible but it was impossible to find out what the hell was going on till the last 10 minutes of the movie (unless you know Shakespeare). If anything I guess it would be in there somewhere, too.
