I wasn't too sure where to put this thread..but feel free to lock it or move it where it should be. ;)

Do you think that a person can be a true fan of the Chronicles of Narnia, not having read the books before seeing the movie?? For example, my mum and I used to read Narnia while I was growing up and I loved them to bits. Does that make me a true fan, now that I'm just as in love with the movie??

What do you think?? :)

Ofcourse you can be a true fan and not have read the books. And you can be just as big a fan as having read the books, as well. I have not read the books, but absolutely fell in love with the movie. Like, I'm so in love that I am seeing it for the second time this weekend and have listened to the soundtrack more than a hundred times. I was completely blown away by the movie, and I consider myself a HUGE fan.

Of course they can be true fans, everybody who is a fan is a true fan, they just have different reasons for it.

Some people like the series because they read the books, some people like them also because of religion, some people think that they are fantastic stories, while there are others who likes them because of the movie, but either way, they are true fans.

I have only read LWW and HHB, but I have already seen the movie twice, am going for 3 times, and I am begging my parents to take me to a CD store so I can buy the soundtrack!

narnia book fan

I don't think that you can be a true narnia fan without reading the books. There's so much more stuff in the books it's not even funny. I've read all of the lord of the rings books and there is just so much more stuff...

But you have to remember that Peter Jackson did not do the best job at sticking to the books...i'll admit that I haven't read the narnia books yet but I'm going to as soon as my friend brings me a copy, but those I've talked to that have read them say it's really close. Jackson left out so much stuff in LotR...there is a difference. Same with HP,now I've read all of those and can tell you how much was left out. So it's different with each director, and the writers...just because they may have left out one or two things doesn't mean that you can't be a true fan if you've only seen the movie and not read the books to know the whole story.

I know that may have got a little confusing....but I didn't know how else to word it :p

It doesnt matter, to me every fan is a true fan.

Those who havent read the books but have seen the movie, like it for what it is and the story that it tells, they are still a true fan, just in a different sort of way.

Yeah for me, I grew up with the BBC version of LWW and then i saw the newer one. I had never read the books, because I didn't really like fantasy as a little girl. I started getting into in 6th grade, but never got around to reading them. I just finished reading LWW and PC though and now I'm working on VDT

It just means you’re a fan of Walden Media's interpretation of LWW.

The books are a different thing entirely.

yeah, my mom read the books to my sister and i, before i ever heard of the movies (the new, or old)..but alot of people say the old one was really bad, so ive never seen it. but i LOVE the new one. so yeah i consider myself a true fan. :D

Umm, if you really like the movie, how can you NOT be a true fan? Even if they never read the books, they are still true fans. I mean, it's not like they are saying

"HEHEHE, I never read the books, but I am gonna pretend to be a fan of the series and fool everyone for the fun of it. I am proud to be a fake fan."

Pretty much, if they liked the story and consider themselves fans, I would also consider them fans.
