Uncle Diggory Kirke

I was reading something at: http://narniaconfidential.com/People There it said that the Proffesor Kirke was the uncle of the Pevensie. Is that true?:

What would Narnia be without its unforgettable characters? These include The Pevensies (Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy), their uncle Professor Digory Kirke, their cousin Eustace Scrubb, as well as Narnians like Prince and then King Caspian...

Prof Kirke isn't the children's uncle directly..I think he may be a relation, possibly through their mother, but not directly (I would look it up but it's too much effort at the mo)
But....the Prof is very very very important ot the story of Narnia!

Read the first one and all will become clear i just finshed reading all of them and my mum who read them ages ago would not tell when what happened and it was soooo annoying also i just freaked my self out cause i hit the table then in the room next door a lamp feel off the shelf aaahhh
