The Dawn Treader looks absolutely amazing. If there is one object in all of Narnia that is described the most vividly in the books, it is the Dawn Treader. I hope the design remains true because, there really isn't a whole lot of design wiggle room here.

Very cool artwork! But look what Paul has posted on the home page for this site:

A concept designer was interviewed about his work on Inkheart, and in the process he mentions that he had been hired as a concept artist for The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

“After Inkheart I got on to the Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, but it fell through. They pulled the plug on it. We were on our way to Malta, we had or bags packed and all when we heard the news. I’d never been abroad on a movie before either.

“That’s just the nature of the business. It’s up and down the whole time. Work happens in bursts and when you’re working you earn quite a lot of money,” said Norman.

I’m not sure that is the whole story, as production still seems to be moving forward. Last I had heard, they were planning on shooting The Voyage of the Dawn Treader on location all over the world. Malta was one of the countries that would have had scenes shot. However, budget cuts have been made due to the under-performing Prince Caspian, causing the investors to worry if Dawn Treader will have legs.

Wonder if they pulled the plug on the film, or just on this guy's trip to Malta?

Wow, that concept art looks amazing! The Dawn Treader looks just like I'd imagined it. And that second one...is that, like, the magician's house? It looks totally awesome! I can't wait.:D

I hope they didn't bag the movie.:(

Very cool looking! I especially love the design of The Dawn Treader! :D I really hope they didn't pull the plug, that would be very unfortunate. :(

Looks awesome! I think I'm going to start my own concept artwork. Let's see. I need a pencil....

Pulling the plug on VDT? I haven't heard of this news. Athough I did expect this to happen after Silver Chair since they have started to stray away from staying true to the books. As for second image of concept art shown, it is indeed Lucy in the Magician's House.

I'd say it is difficult to understand the context of the concept artist's quote, but I am going to say the movie is still on but the concept artist's job or trip was cut. With the current economy, things might be hurting. Who knows?

We do know that they `pulled the plug` on using Malta as a location so I guess this guys trip and job, as well as a number of other people probably got canceled.
It kind of looks like VOTDT is going to be a more low budget, studio based production than originally planned but will likely still get made.
Dosn`t look good for `Silver Chair` or anything beyond it though.

::gasp:: The magician's house is exactly how I always pictured it, eek. ::really excited::

I'd assume the SC film depends on how VotDT does and how well-received Eustace is?

I find it sad how today it seems movies are no longer an art form but instead like stock in stock market. Major coperations like Disney only care to keep making films if they make a lot of money. Fortunaetly there are other companies in Hollywood which still believe in making movies for more than money. Prehapes if Disney drops making the rest of Chronicles of Narnia films, someone else will take them on and finish the work.

No!!:( I would be so sad if they didn't make the others...and if VDT is low budget. >.< It's my favorite book of all of them...I don't want them to ruin it.

Disney has, like, so much money though. Wouldn't have enough to still make it good? :(

Disney is like all big coperations, If it isn't bringing in good revenues then they either drop it or ruin it by doing it low budget.

I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens. The wait for the next Narnia film has begun! :p

To anyone who has the 3-disc Prince Caspian, in the featurette "Previsualizing Narnia," the very last scene was the pre-viz for the Sea Serpant in Dawn Treader! It was quite cool. :D

WHAT? REALLY? I just got the 3-disc for Christmas...OOOOHHH I MUST see that!

Anyway, I was REALLY impressed with the concept art--the magician's house looks exactly like I pictured it, and the ship just looks exactly like the original illustration.

I'm scared and upset that Disney left the franchise, but hopefully with everyone praying for it and for Walden, WM will find a new partner very soon. It seems that since so much work has already gone into VDT pre-production that the film will still be made (SC, by the way, has apparently already been greenlit, according to imdb). And I don't think Apted or Knight is going to leave, so hopefully we will get to see those wonderful concept art images onscreen in a year-and-a-half to two years (no longer than that:mad:!).

I believe so. If they don't get enough money from VDT they'll have to drop Narnia...then I'll be on a mission to find somebody else to do it. >.O :p
