Weekend Estimate for Prince Caspian less than LWW

I'm pretty sure it will still come, i think it will beat LWW in the totale box office in the end... but that's just a guess.

I hope it doesn't come out like this...:( I thought it was excellent, just as a movie, I would go and see it any day even if I had never heard of Narnia.

Y'all tell your friends to go!!!! :D

I don't think there's anything to worry about. PC was up against the powerhouse that is "Iron Man", which is doing better than anyone expected. It would have been nice if Disney had released it during the fall or winter, away from surefire hits like Indy, but who can figure out how corporate suits think? Just the same, 19.3 million is a very good number. And I think it will do gangbusters overseas as well.

I was curious about this and I'm glad someone posted the info. I'm sure it'll do great, though, even if it doesn't do as well as LWW (which is probably the most popular Narnia book, meaning it will probably have been the most popular movie). :)

There's tough competition this month. But also, the movie industry in general is suffering. Still, the first day estimates are nothing to sneeze at, and Saturday/Sunday are the days families most often get out to see movies such as this.

Indy and Iron Man are strong rivals and I am sure that PC's true strength will be outside the USA, just like it is with Harry Potter. I hate to generalize, but to me it seems that Americans generally prefer superhero movies and Star Wars, while Europeans are crazy about fantasy and historic epics :)

I don't have any idea if that's true, what i do know is that i'm pretty sure it will make a lot of money here too:D

At least VDT has been given the go ahead. Hopefully they will spend less time trying to down play the role of Faith in the books and will release it during Christmas season like they did with LWW.

I can hardly wait for VDT even though its comes out in like 2 years! Well, I don't know what is happening with the box office sales. I can tell you that I invited exactly 32 people to go opening night and only 13 showed up.

It made 19 Million on Fri, 20 Million on Saturday, and it is expected to make 17 Million today.

At least according to Boxofficemojo.com

Some couldn't careless about what it makes during opening weekend but it is extremely important for it to meet expectations as the making of the other movies depends on the success of Caspian and VDT.

I really want to see TMN be made into a movie :(

That is what I worry about. My favorite books in the Chronicles are the later ones.....:(

I will say my best friend who absolutely detested LWW loved PC, she kept asking me questions throughout the movie and she was on the edge of her seat :p

It's true that PC is releasing in a very "crowded house". Between Iron Man, Indy 4, and later films such Wall-E and Kung-Fu Panda PC has some very stiff competition.

I was worried from the beginning about marketing though. I mean, Disney promoted movies such as Pirates, Cars, and The Incredibles MUCH more than LWW or PC. Seeing as only (a few) Christian stores, (some) Disney rstores, and Toy's R Us carry the merchandise (a MUST for any "family" film) as well as little internet marketing I was concerned about this film. I thought that after the first movie made $291 Million that Disney would seize the opportunity to push this movie and get it over $300 millon. But I guess they are busy marketing movies from a year or two ago to think about marketing their current movies.
