well, it says in the books that he is just a little older than Peter, he had blond hair (I can't really help you with how blond/how light brown, and I don't think that will matter too much).

We probably will never know what exact color his hair will be. Remember, when you start growing older, as getting out of the teenage years, your hair starts to darken. Like mine, mine used to not be as dark as it is now, but when I was younger, it was lighter. Your hair color changes as you grow up. We'll just have to trust what C.S. Lewis has already described in the book, and hopefully, Andrew Adamson will stay true to that. AS for The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, they will probably darken Caspian's hair a little since it's three years after PC.

Yo!

Thanks for the assists, but I'm still left questioning though within a far more attuned range due to your well-appreciated help. The central reason I'm still wondering is 'cause (besides the whole auditioning thing), at the end of the Prince Caspian novel (I just finished it) the origins of the Telmarines are described by Aslan. According to the description they would have a mixed Northern European (most likely Germanic [Anglo-Saxon]), Polynesian appearance. If the casting director(s) go according to the book, this would most likely eliminate the majority of any likelihood of Caspian being a blonde. I'm half Hellenic half Germanic in ancestry, so this really plagues me, as issues go. That's really why I keep asking the question of what he (in this case, most likely) would look like, assuming the casting director(s) are truly attempting to stay close to the spirit and appearance of C.S. Lewis' books and their respective characters. Yet I still here speculations that place Caspian somewhere between white-blond and sandy-brown. So what is most likely when it comes to his appearance?

White-blond, sandy brown...that's sounds pretty specific. Polynesians usually have a darker color of skin ....And did Prince Caspian REALLY say Caspian was blonde??
Well, who knows how specific Andrew wants the person to play Caspian to look like? All we know is that he'll be...blonde.

Honestly, I don't think the casting people are going to care if your hair is white blonde or sandy brown :D they'll care more about acting abilities. I have a feeling there really isn't definite answer, and the movie people have a right to some freedom when it comes to this if CS Lewis wasn't incredibly detailed. After all, Lucy is a blonde in the books, even as she grows older, but Lucy in LWW has dark brown hair but she was perfect :)

But it should be interesting to see if they go with a blonde look or something different...

A long time ago I had the old version of Prince Caspian as a kid though I never read it...and on the cover, Prince C's hair was dark. When I first came to this forum I thought, yeah, he should have dark hair and fair skin.

But now thinking about the mix that the Telmarines are by race ( supposedly Anglo pirates mixing with the native women on the island) I think that nearly all of their Polynesian blood must be gone. It's sort of like people here in America who are like, 1/64th American Indian but of course look totally white.

I now think Prince Caspian would have tan skin from being outdoors, and blondish hair and blue eyes.

Well, any mix between Northern European genetics and say Polynesian genetics would most likely eliminate the gene for blond hair (as it is a RECESSIVE GENE). So I'd expect that Caspian would have dark hair. This also works for skin tone. Greater melanin = darker skin, low melanin = fair skin. The gene for dark skin tone is DOMINANT over the gene for fair skin. Thus (assuming the pirates were originally blonde or carried the recessive blond gene or fair skin gene) their descendants by native women (who would have outnumbered them, being the natives) we would see that the male-introduced genetics of Northern European origin would prolly have died out (gone underground or disappeared completely from the phenotype) within the first few generations. So I'm seeing the liklihood of a flaxen, fair skinned Caspian as being very unlikely. But, jah know the casting directors could take an artistic license and give him blue hair and purple skin or somefin like dat. It's just that since I'm half Hellenic, half Germanic, I'm kinda like (at least in my imagined version of the Telmarines) Caspian (if we follow the story of his race's origins to their proper conclusion (realistically speaking). I geuss I could be called Prince Caspain Wannabe 2, in that case, heh, heh :D . But VODT describes him as 'golden haired' vich kinda ticks meh off, due to the story at the end of Prince Caspian aboot the Telmarines. So.......... geuss dat's it....fur now.

Um, well, I don't put as much thought into this kind of thing regarding genetics as you do. LOL If they gave Prince Caspian purple hair and blue skin I don't think many of us would want to see that movie.

You mean to say you wouldn't watch it?
I'd go to see it just for that!
Lol.dat

Firstly, he is "Golden headed" (pg 14 - Lions publication, VDT)

Secondly, if you are thinking of dying your hair for the auditions, I would strongly reccomend against doing it.
Just turn up as yourself.
For all means, tell them that, if it was required of you, you would be willing to dye your hair if that's the way they want caspian, but if 2000 blonds turn up, and only 20 of them are natural blond, they won't be impressed.

As Andrew said, they aren't looking for the characters in the book, they are looking for personalities, who have the "ability to act"

Hm..Caspian...
Hair: Blonde (same color as Will's)
Eyes: Brown
Skin: A bit tan, not too much, but not too fair.
Height: 5'4 (PC); 5'6 (VotDT)
Hot or not?: Totally hot!!!

Not really. Edmund was blonde in the book, and skandar has like almost jet-black hair. Thank gawd for that.

True, true. For some reason I can't ever picture Edmund with blond hair. The jet black hair goes with his personality in the movie....that bad boy thing LOL.

So Caspian has got to be blond.

yea isnt he blond in the book? but i honestly dont think it matters, i actually pictured him dark haired in my imagination when i read it, although i already knew he was blond..i know weird..but like lucy in the film is a lil brunette and in the book, well in one of the ones she appears, shes described as golden haired or something, but it doesnt matter, same with the dudleys boy in hp, hes blond in the book but brunette in the film..it doesnt matter, as long as they can put on the role...(im actually hoping this is a black haired pc)

may have already been mentioned

the following is from a doug gresham interview from the lions call which would explain looking for a white english/european looking boy for caspian

Q: If the Telmarines are descended from South Seas pirates, there would likely be a good deal of Chinese in their lineage, though there were certainly some Europeans taking advantage of piracy in that area as well. And the pirates married islanders, who would also have been dark. How then is Caspian fair haired? Or did they intermarry with Archenlanders?

A: Many if not most pirates in the South Seas at the time of which Jack writes were in fact English or Dutch Privateers.
