In VOTD on Dragon Island, when Caspian writes the inscription that it was discovered by Caspian X and where they guess Lord Octesian had his death, when Caspian threw the gold arm bracelet..it landed by the inscription they wrote, and it said that no one was able to climb up and get it, and if they did, they could not get back down. well..how did they get the inscription up there then? if the height was so high and hard to get down by. I was just wondering. cuz it said no one could get the bracelet, so how did they get the inscription up there? wouldnt they stil be able to get the bracelet if obviously they could write the inscription.

Heh. Good spot! I think you can blame the illustrator for that - she has put the arm-ring next to the inscription because they are both relevant to that page of the story, but the words don't actually say that is where the bracelet landed.

You've a keen eye for detail; it's thirty years and more since I first read VotDT and I'd never noticed the apparent contradiction. :)

No, you're right. it didnt actually say it landed by the inscription, I looked in the book.

I guess that illustration, as you said, made me think that.

Yes, the words only say that the armband was thrown away while they were looking at the inscription - so it would have been near, but not as near as the picture showed. Well, that's that sorted out then! :)
