Wingfeather saga series

Any folks here who have read the Wingfeather saga series? Any thoughts?

For me, I had a hard time getting into it because all the new terms and creatures were distracting me from processing the story. However I persevered (especially after seeing the animated version <https://www.wingfeathersaga.com/>, which helped me get the big picture, so I could get past all the unfamiliar words, places and creatures). So this spring I have read all four books (#3 is my favorite!) and am currently in the process of reading Wingfeather Tales. Note: these books are about a war and so some scenes are intense, and what the characters go through can be harrowing. However, the careful plotting and the themes of loyalty, self-sacrifice, love vs. duty, courage, family ties, acceptance, affirming the unique gifts in each person, and dealing with regret make working through this series well worth the effort.
