The Diary of Jane Doe.

Um, I disagree. Wouldn't it be better if there were no "Robert's" at all? But fat chance of that ever happening.

Yes, of course it would be better if there were no "Roberts" to begin with, but that isn't gonna happen, I mean theres already a bunch out there. So the next best alternative is to have them all caught redhanded because then their case is slam dunk--no way you're not gonna get a conviction!

Well there's not much chance of them getting caught red-handed either. Most of the women are too scared to say anything. I probably would be too. ;) But then again, I wouldn't start going out with him in the first place.

Theres more chance of catching them red-handed then there is of getting rid of them entirely:D Besides Jane wasn't gonna say anything, just leave, but her neibor helped her...

Anyway I was basically just daydreaming and getting my mind into hypothetical situations:rolleyes::D

I never said it was possible to get rid of all of them. I just said it would be better. :p

They’re letting him go!!! I can’t believe it, but they’re letting him go! Robert’s been in jail for five months, and he’ll be free by September. I overheard my dad and Mary-Anne talking about it the other day. I had just finished giving Shayne a bath, and was putting him down to sleep. Through the door I heard my dad say, “I just got a call from Officer Sherman from Oregon. He said that because of Robert’s ‘good behavior’, they’re letting him off on patrol. But don’t tell Janie, she’s been going through enough lately.”
I don’t know what I’m going to do. I thought I’d be okay, he’s not technically allowed to leave Oregon, but as his release date draws nearer I feel more and more agitated. He’s told me more than once “You better watch yourself Jane before I kill you!” What if he actually does? I have a son now…what would happen to him if something happened to me? I’m frightened.
A couple of nights ago my dad heard me crying outside. I didn’t want t to wake up Shayne, so I went outside. That’s when I told him that I heard him and Mary-Anne talking and how scared I was. He held me close and said, “Don’t be afraid Janie, God’s gotten you this far and he’ll lead you through the rest.” He promised he’d protect me. He gave me the option of running. My dad’s always taught me to confront my problems and not run away from them, but I don’t see much of a choice. I’m not just thinking of myself, I have to remember that the future of an innocent little child is in my hands. We’re leaving in a week or two to go live with my Aunt who lives in New Zealand. I’m sure Robert can’t get me there. I’m still a little frightened, but I just have to have faith that everything will work out. I’m going to be busy packing and getting ready to go. I’ll write again once I’m in New Zealand, if I get to New Zealand.
You know what’s really strange? I just remembered when I was younger and our neighbor was arrested for abusing animals. He died in that prison cell. Why do I have fewer rights than an animal?

-Jane (hopefully not for the last time)

I think it's really cool to see character progression in your story, Oomy. :) It's neat to compare recent entries with ones posted near the beginning.

Its parole not patrol, but otherwise good. And I totally agree with Jane, its redicolous that animals are given more rights than people.

I put patrol? *checks last entry* OH, ummmm...I must have missed that.:o I meant parole though.

Glad y'all like it. Will be posting the final entry very soon. :D

I'm intrigued. I've not been reading this but I've read through the whole thing in the past few minutes. This is very evocative--can't wait to see the end!

The following entry, unlike the others, is an excerpt from the Southwest Kansas Gazette. The publishing date is September 1, 2004.

Early this morning, before even the animals were out, tragedy struck in our happy town of Ulysses.
A retired couple, Abigail and Jonathan Murphy, were traveling to the graduation of their granddaughter when they found a horrifying crime scene. I spoke to this couple, our only witnesses, and asked what happened. Jonathan said, “Well, we were driving along when I saw a car crashed on the side of the road. We thought someone might be hurt, seeing as how bad the crash looked, so we pulled over and stepped out. That’s when we saw the bullet hole. I ran forward and found the man, dead in the driver’s seat. Then I looked up, and Abigail was gone.”
I asked where the woman went. “Well, you see, when I was standing there I heard a baby crying. And, of course, I had to see what it was. I went beyond the trees and found that poor, defenseless little boy lying all bare in the cold morning air. When I went to go pick him up I saw the woman.” At this moment Abigail, recalling the horrid sight, was so choked with emotion that she could not continue with her story. All Jonathan had to say was “Obviously, we called the police.”
After talking to this couple, I went to Officer Smith and asked him about what happened. Who are these two people? “I’m afraid I don’t know. Right now we have a John and Jane Doe on our hands.” What do you think happened here? “Well, I’m just guessing now, but from what I can see this all happened early this morning, around 5 or 6 a.m. We think that they may have been getting ready to travel, due to the bags in the back of the car. It seems that somebody didn’t want them to leave, though. They may have been chased by whoever did this. I can deduce that the culprit had a gun and shot through the back window and went through the man’s head, killing him instantly. The man fell onto the steering wheel, and the car swerved out of control and smashed into that tree, as you can see. What probably happened next was the woman ran out of the car to get her baby, as women are known to do. With the baby in her arms she tried to run from her murderer, trying to protect herself and the little boy. Unfortunately, he caught up. The baby was ripped out of the woman’s arms and thrown to the ground. It’s a miracle the thing survived. The attacker then proceeded to beat the woman in the most brutal way I have ever seen, and I’ve been doing this for over forty years. He hit, kicked, slammed, stabbed, cut, and even raped the poor woman. He did everything short of killing her. Then left the scene, taking any form of identification with him.”
But if the assailant didn’t kill her, what was the cause of death? “It could’ve been any number of things; loss of blood, any number of injuries to internal organs, or simply death due to unbearable pain. But I can tell you one thing, death was probably an answer to this woman’s prayers.” What are you doing to try to find the murder? “I’m going to be putting my best men on the case, and will be participating myself. I will not rest until these people are identified and the murder is behind bars.”
Well, there you have it folks. An orphaned infant and a John Doe. And a Jane Doe tortured so horribly that my editor would not allow me to put any pictures of her in this article because of the gruesome content. Please, if you have any information about who these people are or who may have done this contact the authorities. For a look at the victims, visit the newspaper’s website, although I must warn you that they are extremely graphic and not for the faint-of-heart. A crime like this should never go unsolved, and the police need as much help as they can get. And this reporter promises to follow the story so my readers can know when the demon who did this is caught.

Well, there you have it. The end of The Diary of Jane Doe. Hope you enjoyed reading it.

More like I have a something personal against every abuser. I have a problem with leaving a baby in the middle of nowhere to die. I have an issue with people who brutally beat people. I have a problem with every "Robert" in the world.

I hate our legal system sometimes, really truly hate it.

That is so sad. Even though this is fictional it still twists my stomach because I know there are people out there who are like 'Robert'. It's just--grr. *growls unintelligibly*
