Anime, Anyone?

Heh, yeah, I think I've heard the word 'shoujo' in relation to them before. Thanks. :P

I watched an episode of Death Note once. I really just had no idea what was going on. I'm pretty sure it was in the middle of the whole anime, so it's not that surprising that I was confused, heh. Heaps of people love it though, so I might have to find it to watch from the start.
 
Yeah, if you don't read/watch Death Note from the start, there's no WAY it'll make total sense. Trust me..:p

Uhm, wow....I haven't watched anime in a LONG time, but I've watched and read almost every genre except the icky ones...and you don't need to know what those are 'cause this is a family friendly forum! yayyyy!!!! but I did watch a LOT of shoujo until I watched all of Marmalade Boy and it scarred me for life against shoujo anime. Seriously, the WHOLE THING seems to revolve around love triangles! You'll have love triangles seeping out your ears if you watch it. The relationship between the two main characters are really good and cute, but I'm never watching/reading that series ever again. lol Also, to add to my scarring, if I'm reading a shoujo and there's a long lasting love triangle coming into the picture or too much love drama, I have to put it down. Can't stand too much love drama. Drama is good, but tons and TONS of love drama? Not so much. :p

Uhm...for favorite anime.......hmm.......in no particular order I'd have to say my top five are:

Bleach
xXx Holic
Prince of Tennis
Fruits Basket
Gunslinger Girls

Yep...I like shounen and seinen anime while I read oodles and ooldes of shoujo. :rolleyes: lol

Yeah..it can be quite confusing sometimes...at least I was kinda when I first watched it. But I've read the manga about 3 times through, so Im good with the confusion now. xD
 
Ha, yeah, you've gotta really be in the mood to watch or read shoujo. It's a pity manga is so expensive. The only manga we have in the house is in French, 'cause that's where my sister got it, heh.

I think I'll start watching Death Note when I finish Bleach. I say 'finish'. As we all know, it's about a million hours long and not planning on stopping anytime soon. As soon as I catch up.

Hahaha. You can say that again. I stopped watching Bleach and just started reading the weekly chapter update. It's so much easier. :rolleyes:
 
Shameless promotion of a usergroup. Manga Madness and Anime Addiction. I don't even know if that's allowed, promoting a group you created. >.<

I love anime and manga; my all time favorite is Fullmetal Alchemist, though I do think that the manga is better than its animated counterpart (which is an excellent series, in its own right).

Death Note is also a favorite, although I haven't seen all of the anime.. Has anyone seen the live-action movies?
 
no I haven't, but the words "live action" in regards to anime/manga scares me....especially since there's going to actually be a Dragon Ball live action movie......Lord help us all...ahahhahaha *has read and watched all of the series*.......and that's mainly why I can't stand Naruto and Inuyasha. :rolleyes:

I watched about 20 mins of DN...but the subs were too small, and I didnt like it anyway.

Ill just stick to the manga plot. ;]

and I keep meaning to read FMA...my friend was bugging me to awhile back, while I was bugging her to read Tsubasa. :p

OMGSH! I LOVE AZUMANGA DAIOH! I own the whole season. Although technically Azumanga Daioh, even though it has a mainly all girl cast, is considered a seinen comedy and not shoujo, and Ah! My Goddess is a shounen romance because it's a harem comedy.

btw, Yotsuba&! is an AWESOME manga. I highly recommend it. It's so hillarious! It's written by the same person who did Azumanga Daioh, so if you want comedy, it's a good one. lol.

If you want to go waaay back to oldies, what about Speed Racer? Not the live action (tehe, another bad example of anime shows adapted into live action movies!) movie but the original series. XD
 
I've been a big anime fan for quite some time now. I got my start way back when Voltron first came onto VHS!

Mostly though I try and keep up with traditional 'Shonen' series (DBZ, Naruto, Bleach) but I watch many types of anime including the occasional 'girly or shojo' series like Fruits Basket.

I watch way too many anime to list here though lol! :)

humm, I think they are classified as "shojen", I speak japanese a little bit and my teacher tell me it was "shojen".

I looove anime, and I loooooooove Japan :)

my favorites manga are :

1. death note !!!!!!! the best
2. peach girl
3. fruit basket
4. love hina
5. naruto, even if it become a little bit boring - -'

and many many other. :)

Maybe, but here, even in places like Barnes and Noble, Borders and Amazon.com, it's shoujo. These all could be wrong, but I somewhat doubt that.

Could it be your teacher was mixing it up with shounen?
