the offical Lara Croft/Tomb Raider Club

YEAH! I FINISHED UNDERWORLD! *does happy dance* And I got us even further in Angel of Darkness as well! I really hate that one because the controls are weird and the game play's rubbish. Though it's probably the longest game on PS2.

Awww :). How so?
Well, no Sami, no fun!!! LOL

Ok, I know you're busy at Uni. Take your time Sami. We're just glad to see you when you can come. I know you can't get on as much due to your school. It's ok.

Aww thank you :o. It's very kind of you to say. Well the summer holdays are coming soon so I should be able to be on more often :). Just two more assignments and then I am TDL's :)

That's one of the things that bugs me now.

Before Legend, Tomb Raider used to follow a strict pattern of alternation between sci-fi and magic.

Tomb Raider: sci-fi.
Tomb Raider II/II Gold: magic.
Tomb Raider III/III Gold: sci-fi.
Tomb Raider IV: magic.
Tomb Raider V: 50/50 of each.
Tomb Raider VI: well, it's hard to tell. Ancient myths based on powers derived from dark hidden science. The Periapt shards have a magical origin, but work on beings who derived their powers from atomic modifications to their genetic structure and use bionic implants (check out the sketch of Eckhardt's glove in Lara's notebook). And that must have hurt, it's attached directly to his heart.

I don't know... but Lara makes all this seem sexy! hahahaha!!

Ah, Tomb Raider. This game reminds me of my childhood! Am I the only one who used to lock the butler in the fridge in Lara's house? xD I can't remember which game that's in.

I've never actually finished a Tomb Raider game, which makes me sad.

Yeah, everyone did that.

My personal favorite was when he was a human target on the shooting range in Tomb Raider III.

Now we know the reason for the tray, it's a bullet shield!

And so glad he's not a boss I have to fight.......

I probably spent more time in Lara's House then I did in the rest of the game.

I even made a new and improved version of Lara's Home with the level editor, full of secret passageways and cool things to look at it.

But then the WAD files corrupted and destroyed all my hard work.

I still have the files, but never worked out how to fix the problem.

In theory, I could rebuild the wad files from scratch, but we're talking 1-3 years worth of work.

LOL! I never did any of that stuff. I always spend the minimum amount of time in Lara's Mansion and then I go to the levels.

I always spent all my time in the mansion and the twins spent all their time doing the levels. Never did the level editor though. Although we don't own 3 but I have played it so I know what you mean about the tray.

Were there level editors too? wow. That's how much I know. All I know is that it's fun to go around exploring and getting mad at the stupid camera angles!!!:D

The Level Editor came bundled with Tomb Raider V.
Or at least it did for me.

Unfortunately, while Core Design did provide most of the tools to make Tomb Raider levels, they didn't provide the most important one: the object editor.

But fans stepped up, creating their own programs to edit the objects and extract them from existing Tomb Raider files.

This is what I was doing when the WAD (object) files corrupted.

Sadly, I don't think we can use the level editor anymore.

Windows7 and XP are not great with Legacy products.
Technically, the Level Editor is Windows 98 software.

It gets overcharged in Windows7.
For example, under W98, when I pressed the arrow key, it would rotate the room about 10 degrees.
I do the same thing in W7, the room spins around 100 times and goes back to where it was originally.

And that's about when I gave up.
There's not point trying to rebuild all my WADs if the Level Editor itself can't be used.

I see. Well, to be honest, I never do any level editing or creating in games. I also do not really play those games that have character creation and stuff like that. It takes too much time. I know lots of people like using those editors to create their custom characters and maps, but I don't want to spend my game time doing that. I just go there and play to beat the game. That's it.

I didn't even know it had them to be honest. But I love shutting the butler in the fridge!! :D It always made me laugh and was my ultimate aim. I used to shoot at him too.
