Share a pic not of yourself

So I was trying to watch the eclipse last Sunday but I could not find anything that would protect my eyes. I tried taking pictures of it but I had no filters to use. I was walking back inside when I turned and looked at the wall of my neighbor across my front door and lo and behold, the eclipse was reflecting in the shadows of the trees. You can see how awesome the looked all the half-moon (or in this case, half-sun) shapes reflecting through the leaves! And no, the trees were not palm trees, they were pine and oak. Ever seen those cast shadows in these shapes?

I used to live in this village.

Our priest wrote this book.

I went to the now closed school here in the 1970s.

I lived here with my parents and sister.

The village used to have a bank, a shop and a gas station.

Here are our pics from Amish country!

The first pic is of me, Tom, my oldest sister and mom. (I blurred the girl's faces because I don't think they'd appreciate me posting their pics online :p) The thing behind us was supposedly the biggest buggy in the world.. I was skeptical :p

The second one is of a Piano in the same building. I thought it was beautiful, especially with the window! There was a slot for money, so I guess it was a player Piano, so I put money in and nothing happened. Luckily I got my money back :p

The last two are of two Amish buildings in town that we walked by. I thought they were both beautiful and looking very original and historic!

I like the pictures, Patrick! Amish culture is very interesting. The area around my college has a large Amish population. It's always cool to drive there and see them using the buggies. And they have great food, too :D

The piano is beautiful! I wonder what it sounds like.

Patrick -- thanks for sharing your photos. How interesting you got to visit Amish settlements firsthand. Did you get to see quilters at work or other handicrafts during your visit?

This is a Byzantine mosaic floor with an aslan (lion) that I saw in a museum in Turkey.

Apparently the word 'calorie' doesn't exist in their vocabulary. ;)

Someday, I'm going to go to Pennsylvania and spend two weeks at an Amish Bed and Breakfast, if they have one. I'd love to get to live with an Amish family for a couple of weeks.

Um no not quilters, but we did see many other crafts being made :D

And I can't see the picture, it's blocked
