thanks. yeah its says on that site RAINN.org that awareness and speaking about it actually does prevent it. There are so many stories! one of them is a guy who hated women and was planning to rape a woman. But he heard Tori Amos' Me and a Gun (Tori Amos is the founder of RAINN) and got the perspective of a rape victumn. He decided that no one should have to go through with that.

no, it does make me angry too. Angry that it happens and angry that I was almost a victumn. and it drives me nuts that ppl are afraid to talk about it. like its not there, or when ppl make fun of it. The worse thing I ever had to overhear was when (at a christian camp too!) these 13-14 year old boys were talking to this girl (who had a bit of a modesty issue, but was actually poor and wore things that fit her when she was 8) and telling her she was trashy looking. They called her Rape Meat, and man did I ever knock them over the head!
I think it really stinks how some ppl don't get how tramactic it is.
