Although some half dozen characters being played at the high school ARE supposed to have been homeschooled, there has been almost no DEPICTION of actual homeschooling in progress. One option for you would be to create a character who IS remaining in homeschooling; then this character could first appear interacting with her parents, independent of the characters in high school. This would let you be part of the thread, yet take your time about "merging into traffic."

One example of a way to start interacting would be for you to accompany your Mom to Ashford's Garage for some car repair. The African-American owner of the place is the father of East High freshman Samuel Ashford, a friend of Alipang Havens.

This is a summary I recently wrote as the RP had finished its fifth day as the characters experience time:

* Summer, NightcrawlerFan's character, was threatened by the bully "Leopard Man" and ended up actually fighting him. This RP having some slight connection with reality, she did _not_ win that fight against a much larger antagonist who was a genuine streetfighter; but she got in some shots, and then was rescued from serious harm by the school's new security man, the Navy SEALS veteran Wilson Kramer. Leopard Man went to a much-overdue juvenile detention.

* Dan and Chilena (the latter being my character's adopted sister) were on a date (their third already, celebrating her 17th birthday) Wednesday evening when both fell sick with "a bug." Thus both missed school on Thursday, the day Kim Tisdale began the waitressing job Alipang (my Filipino-born character) had obtained for her.

* Brendan was fortunately nearby on Thursday afternoon when Alipang was in danger at a park. "Rocknose" and other thugs had lured Alipang into a trap by pretending to have seized Alipang's friend Sammy Ashford. Once he saw they _didn't_ have Sammy, Alipang felt more than entitled to run for it since he was outnumbered, unarmed, _and_ still hurting from the beating he had passively accepted on Wednesday to prove a point. Unable in his condition to get away clean either, Alipang was saved by Brendan. Alipang did suffer one hard blow to his already-cracked left rib, and so was hospitalized as a precaution. His pacifist friend Grant was the first other person on the scene of the action, and "waved in" the police.

* * This much may be enough to give you a _start_ on what sort of character you'd like to be. Note that, as usual, most of our participants are girls. I've invented quite a few "non-player-character" boys, just so there _would_ be some boys.

THE SETTING: Smoky Lake, Virginia, not far from the coastal highway I-95. It has a neighboring town, Shilohsville, which is less wholesome. Smoky Lake has two high schools: East ("Falcons," blue and gray) and West ("Panthers," black and sort of turquoise blue). Our main characters, whether always public-schooled or just coming out of homeschooling, all attend East. The Principal of East is a well-meaning but STUPID woman named Freda Lewiston, who thinks that all young criminals need is to love themselves more.

One of the favorite respectable social gathering places for people in Smoky Lake is the town's one Filipino restaurant--as far as has been told so far, its only Asian restaurant overall--called the Pansit Paradise. It is owned by a couple named Rafael and Carmen Imada. The Imadas attend Redemption Free Church, which was the first church to be depicted in the roleplay. There is also a Catholic church in town, St. Timothy's; and at least one Baptist church, though it has not come into the action yet. The small Smoky Lake Police Department normally has just four officers on patrol at any given time; county sheriff's police take up the slack at need.

You can make up a new character to suit yourself, and/or take over control of one or more "spare" characters who have already been seen in the action. I'll "VM" the synopsis to you in several installments.

You don't have to have ACTUALLY been homeschooled yourself to be in the roleplay; we play make-believe characters ina small city in Virginia. I myself, who am actually 57 years old, am playing as a boy 40 years younger. If you are interested, I'll give you a synopsis.

Do I understand you're homeschooled? My first wife, now up in Heaven, homeschooled our daughter. Is there any chance you could be persuaded to join in a text-based roleplay which includes homeschooled kids as characters?

I don't like Husk. She can change her second layer of skin to various things so she can tear her outer layer off. She's also in love with Angel and has mutant brothers and sisters.
