Hi MrBob
I finished reading Acceptable Time last night and it was interesting though it had nothing like the impact of Wrinkle in Time. In some ways the action was really slow, with much of the text focusing on what was going on in the minds of the various characters or their verbal exchanges rather than plot happenings. The blending of druidic rituals and Christian theology was a strange mix, and was thought provoking though not entirely comfortable. So over all I think I lean toward your assessment of the book, though I think it does flow with the other pieces of the Murray chronicles.
