  • The Templars are currently preparing to sack the local Outlets and then by decree of the Grand Master I am to preorder LOTR War in the North. :D
Its a lie that King Richard failed in his Crusade, actually he was quite victorious. Historians say he failed because he didn't take Jerusalem. However, Richard didn't want Jerusalem. To him it was supurflous to retake God's City, when you couldn't fortify it. There were too few Crusaders to hold Jerusalem, so he just let Saladin keep it by default. :)
Rodney Stark has done much research and cites historians, scholars, princes, kings, caliphs, emirs, and greatest of warriors in his analysis of the Crusades. He points out the lies and gives the true accounts. I wondered why I've always been intrigued by the Crusades, why I've liked King Richard the Lionheart and Templars and yet I've been told to be ashamed of them, well in truth I shouldn't be! :)
Godfrey de Bouillion twas giant among men. He became the first King of Jerusalem, although he would not recieve the offical title of king, that he said belong only to God. So he took the titled Defender of the Holy Suplchure. :)
Pardon my History lesson, I am just such an advocate for the Crusades, now that I know the true history. Its a shame how historians with biased agendas have sought to vilify the Crusaders. Satan has used the pen to destroy the glory of godly men. :(
Well for starters there has been an attack on the Crusades. Europeans have been demonized as barbarians while the Saracens are seen as enlightened intellectuals. The First Crusade and subsequent crusades where not about converting unbelievers or siezing lands for greedy empires. It began as a response to an invasion of Christian Kingdoms. Turks began to take Europe: Southern Italy, Spain, Sicily, and Africa where all taken by the Turks, they also then began to siege Constanstinople, thus Byzantine was next on their list to conquer. The Emperor of Byzantium, Alexius I, called for aid. Pope Urban II in response called knights, noblemen, and royal consorts to take up the cross and go to aid Christian brethern who were in peril. The notion they went in search of loot and land is proposterious. Most Crusaders liquidated their lands, and their treasuries to pay for crusade. Godfrey de Boullion sold an island and considerable amount of land to pay his way to the Holy Land.
I am quite blissful. I've finshed my book today and now I am contimplating what I shall read next. :D
