I haven't seen the play lol, and I really don't mind that he does other things, but his motive behind this was to sort of break free of the harry potter stereotype. I can understand how he must feel to be typecast, but I also didn't think that if he wanted to prove people wrong he had to go completely naked to shock everyone (if that's the reason why he wanted to do Equus). But yet again, I don't know.
