  • Purposeful misunderstanding? Would I ever, ever do such a thing? *blinks big, innocent eyes*
Running out where? I thought things were too hot where you live to go jogging in the middle of the afternoon....or is it the middle of the afternoon out there? All these time zones....
By endeavoring not to forget, you are contradicting the commune: and to contradict the commune (the essence of which is contradiction), you are in effect agreeing with the commune (although it disagrees with you).
    :D Thank you.
I've heard a couple stories, but I'm not sure how much they actually link to biblical stories. Some of them seem too new (2000 BC onwards) to be actually based on Bible stories. By that time China already had many of its own legends and myths.
The only chatacter I remember is the word for "boat."
    船: its made up of
    舟-boat, now means little boat
八-eight. (at least, that's what they say this it. To me it doesn't really look like the Chinese eight)
口- mouth, also used when numbering people. like in Eng. you have "a piece of bread," in Chin. you have "eight ___ of people."

So, eighte people on a boat, Noah, Wife, 3 sons, 3 daughters-in-law. Maybe it was based on the story, maybe not. Seems a slightl stretch to me, but who knows?
    If you would have remembered...

You're getting more in tune with the commune of contradictions by the minute. One must learn to forget everything before the essence of contradiction is revealed....
Well, Chinese's been taken care of (to steal your phrase). I'm half Chinese, and grew up in China & Hong Kong. All my life I went to local Chinese schools, so the language is no problem. :D And I love China. I just don't know what to do with her! It drives me insane.
My father did Eng. Lit in college, he loved it, then went on to law school.

I'm hoping to major in History and minor in political science. It's not going to be easy majoring in history, sine I know almost nothing about anything before WW1. But I'll be doing modern history most of the time, and I'd love to learn all the ancient history which everyone ought to know!
As to what I'll do with it, I don't know yet. I know that I want to do something related to China. I want to help China. But I'm not sure how to do that yet. Hopefully that is something I'll learn throughout four years in college, perhaps not in classes, but I'm seeking, and God will answer.
I don't know much about the Great Awakening, but I think I pretty much agree with you.

Do you know what you want to major in, or what you want to do after college?
I think one thing I love about college is that we get to talk about all these different questions, and people are genuinely interested. Not so in high school. I guess that's the thing I like about TDL too, I love haunting the Socratic Club, though I rarely post.

And what say you on the Great Awakening?
I would like to have the kind of conversations you have with your professor, but I enjoy debating, or at least listening to others debate, with our professor. It's always interesting to hear the other side, and more of a challenge to respond to it.
As for the matter of Sushi, I have not given it serious thought, but I'm afraid I am on Glenburnita's side. Because A), I feel sorry for the poor Buffalo who reminds me of Ben the Cookies, and B), he seems to be named after my favorite Chinese poet. (seriously, that's my fav. poet's name: Su Shi.)
My dear new friend, my roommate wants to go to lunch, so I suppose we'll have to pick up our conversation some other time. It's been great talking to you (and that's not just formality, it was really wonderful talking to you!)
How many coincideces can this world have? We just covered Gilgamesh the past few days in History class. I don't suppose yours was for History class?
Indeed. I'm glad you're joining our ranks, we need new blood. *grins*

Oh, and are you and Glen classmates? Both seem to be "deep in the land of Gilgamesh" these days.
When Glenburne first joined here, she allowed people to think she was a man. She didn't actually SAY she was a man, but when some of us inferred it, she did not immediately correct us.
