I don't know where you live, but I've been in more than one community where immigrants -- though NOT subjected to hostility in the area at large -- still projected an obnoxioux swagger of superiority. But as I already said, if that family WASN'T being snotty, then they had no cause to suppose we were being snotty either, so they were not injured.
Many nations all over the world REQUIRE all official business to be done in THEIR OWN language, no interpretation services provided. But in America, where such services ARE provided, many immigrants turn up their noses at EVER using English, and try to force the rest of us to conform to them instead. This is not only rude of them, but arrogant and ungrateful.
