You may or may not be aware that The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe came out in theaters on December 9th, exactly 5 years ago. *Yes, I know this is a little early*. Every year on December 9th, I have a tradition of sitting down and watching the movie at about the same time that I saw it in theaters.

And every year, I make a thread to celebrate its anniversary. So, make plans to set aside Dec. 9th to view LWW! And if you can (and if you remember!), try to watch it at the same time that you saw it in theaters. You can post here if you plan to watch it and after you watch it.

And yes, Dawn Treader comes out the very next day, so what better way to get ready for it?!

Heh heh. I didn't see LWW on the 9th. Can I just watch it on January 6th instead? That's when I got to see it.

Wow, I can't believe it's been that long. Time sure flies. I think I saw it... the 10th? I'm not sure. But I'll try to watch it on the 9th :)

everyone tell where/when you saw it and what your reaction was. i saw it on opening day and i was in phoenix with my mum and some friends on the day of my birthday party. i remember when the opening scenes began, i started getting tears in my eyes -- just from finally seeing the book coming alive on film instead of my imagination ... then when Lucy got into Narnia, the snowfall, the lamp post ... I was just blown away.

I went and saw it with my best friend and her family... I think it was the day after it came out. I was only about 12 years old, and was a bit unsure of it at first, thinking it could NEVER be as good as the BBC version, lol. I was in love with the BBC version at that time. I thought it wouldn't remain true to the book either. I was very opinionated then, XD. But I saw it... and was amazed. I LOVED it. :D Then it became my favorite movie of all time...

...until I watched LOTR. :p lol

YAY!!! I'll try to watch LWW on December 9. I may not because I have to do a show at my school December 9 and 10=D. And of course I can't watch the movie at 9am because I'm at school(i wish i can=)

Haha! I'd never seen the BBC versions, but I'd literally read the book the DAY before, and it had become my favorite. I was sure I wanted the movie JUST LIKE the book.

Yeah, same here... LWW became my fave movie of all time until I watched LotR. xD

Wow...time flies! I didn't see LWW on the day it was released, but I did see it soon after that. Seeing LWW in the theater was very special to me, because I had never even heard of Narnia before that. I was nine, almost ten years old, and my parents decided to take me and my brother to see the movie. I was an instant fan.
And yes, same here...LWW was my absolute all time favourite movie until I saw LOTR. However, CoN *is* still my favourite...LOTR is just so much better :P

I read LotR before Narnia, and the only reason was is because I wasn't allowed to see LotR, so the books pacified me. I also saw LotR before Narnia, and I like them both equally. LotR is pure art; Narnia is pure fantasy.

Pitchike, LWW is "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe." LWW is just so much easier. We mostly abbreviate all of the book titles of the Narnia series (CoN):

LWW, PC, VotDT (or VDT), TSC (or SC), TMN (or MN), H&HB, TLB (or LB) are the seven books of the series as abbreviated with the common abbreviations used on this site.
