A promising rumor

Hey guys, Narniaweb has a thing on their Word on the Street section that Disney may have rejoined the Narnia team. They say that from what they can tell the source may not be reliable (I think it was something on Wiki) but it said that Disney and Walden were back together after renegotiating the contract, especially regarding budget.

I hope it's true. I want things to be settled so they can get on with the movie, because the longer we have to wait for them to settle things, the longer we have to wait to see the movie.

Things put in Word on the Street are not as solid as what is on the homepage. I have heard nothing yet from anyone. I don't know that Disney rejoining would be a good thing or not. I wish Fox would pick it up. I just want a movie that is faithful to the book and not the "cookie-cutter" sort of film that is often pushed out today. It's too sad to see a Classic reduced to that. Time will tell I guess.

I'm agree with u I really wanted most that Fox picked Narnia because it might be good for Narnia, as I've seen Disney's aptitude about Narnia I don't wn't them to make the VDT...

I have mixed feelings about this. If it is true, then I'm happy Disney came back, but as Aravis said, with their current feeling towards Narnia stays the same, then I think Fox would be better at it.

I hope hope hope this is true. It's hard for me to explain how shocked I was over the news of Disney's abandonment of Narnia - it seemed so short-sighted, so abrupt and so very wrongheaded. It just about broke my heart, and heck, I didn't even like PC all that much!

If the rumor is true, I hope to goddess that Disney will inject a bit more of its own magic into the series, especially concerning scripting and special effects, and for the sake of the Lion, have more respect for the books the films are derived from!!!! It made me soooooooo mad what PC did to Reepicheep! And to leave the Holiday in Beruna portion out - unforgiveable!!!

Come on, Disney! Act more like the man who founded you! Uncle Walt NEVER gave up on a good idea! He always found a way! And he would have treated Narnia with the respect, creativity and finesse he lavished on Mary Poppins, Peter Pan and other classic British fantasies! Narnia deserves no less! Oh I HOPE this rumor is true, I hope, I hope...

I think Fox might do a better job of distribution. Star Wars was so popular, they have to have had some hand in that.

But I haven't heard anything, confirmed or rumor about Disney rejoining. Frankly, I just wish the film was being made and made well instead of this battle over who gets distribution rights. I think Walden could make this film and distribute it just as well as Disney or Fox. Maybe even better.

Me too! I went to see it with my friend, who's never read the book. He loved Reepicheep, but each time he mentioned a reason why he liked Reepicheep I cringed. I kept thinking, "but Reepicheep's not LIKE that! He's not supposed to be a total joke!"

If Disney returns, good for them, so long as they don't turn the Narnia franchise into the same stuff as their horrible sequels they've been making of the old classics. Honestly, I don't know what happened to their animation department. Who keeps thinking up these sequels?

Guys, DISNEY WAS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR PC'S SCRIPT. THAT DEPENDED SOLELY ON THE FILMMAKERS\DIRECTOR AND HIS TEAM. The only thing Disney was partly responsible for was the marketing\distributing of the film and its products *Of which they did a poor job*

Please, stop blaming Disney for the mistakes that Adamson and his writers made. The only thing they are to blame for is the poor, sad marketing of PC and its products.

and frankly, I don't see how Reep was made a joke. I thought he was about the same as he was in the book.

I have mixed feelings about this as well...Disney/Walden Media pairs well with Narnia, but why should this film be left to someone with little faith in its success? And you never know, perhaps Fox picking Narnia up would turn out greater than expected, especially that Voyage of the Dawn Treader is the most adventurous and popular book of them all.

I don't think Dawn Treader is the most popular. I think that title belongs to either Last battle or LWW but it's the only book that's a seafaring adventure with a dragon. and I agree, Fox picking up Narnia could be better than Disney keeping it and dragging it down. Especially if Disney markets Dawn Treader like PC. Fox will probably do a better job of marketing\distributing than Disney could.

Because apparently, the only reason Disney pulled out was because of PC's failure at the box office *even though officially it's a blockbuster because I think it made like 2 million or something and there's a mark that a film must reach to be classified as a blockbuster and PC reached it*. If you can't stick with a franchise through the good and bad *obviously Fox stuck with Lucas on Star Wars prequels 1 and 2* then they should just leave it alone.

I don't think I care very much who gets involved in it as long as they do a good job. :) Hope it's a fantastic movie.

I kind of hope it`s true but I also kind of feel like Disney doesen`t deserve Narnia.

Exactly! If they can't suffer through their own mistakes, maybe they need to stop marketing\distributing films.

and really, no company is responsible for any film's content. The companies just choose which films to sponsor and budget. But I do wish this dispute would get settled so they can start filming.
