After Return of the King

She ggiled.
" Daddy what's worng with Mr.Pippen?," She ask.

Merry-

Merry gazed down at the girl, his eyes tracing across her long strands of flowing hair,

"Oh there is nothing wrong with Master Pergrin, Eastà. He is just being his michevous self as usual."

He laughed, remembering the old days of the Shire when Gandalf's fireworks had lit up the evening sky which now seemed so long ago. It seemed distantly to drift away from his mind day after day, but it would never fade completely.

Frodo-

Frodo looked up at Merry, a bit more serious expression spreading across his face,

"I suppose I should get to the point of why I asked you here, my friend."

Merry-

Merry quickly shook off the thoughts that swirled around in his mind, still in a bit of a daze he answered Frodo quietly,

"I believe that would be nice, Frodo."

Pippin-

Pippin nodded, a childlike expression falling across his face,

"Yes.. you certainly have made us all very curious you two."

Frodo-

Frodo took in a deep breath, looking straight into Merry's eyes,

"This question..."

He paused,

"Well... It is about her Lady Arla."

Silence filled the air, as if all seemed to stand on edge around him.

Kasey stood there.

Merry-

A small shadow of red now crept across Merry's face, as he blushed. Trying to hide it a bit, he turned staring off into the distance. This was not at all the sort of question he had expected from Frodo,

"Ummm.. yes.. and what about her Lady Arla?"

Frodo-

A hint of a smile danced upon Frodo's lips,

"I am quite sure you may already know as to what this question is, Merry."

More silence filled the crisp air, and the single sound of a distant eagle calling could be heard soaring high above.

Pippin-

Pippin now folded his arms neatly across his chest,

"Yes.. you may all know what this mysertious question is already. But I surely do not. So could please.. someone make it a bit more clear to me."

OOC: Looks like I have to pretty much carry on alot of the conversation here.:D;)

OOC: Not alone.... I'll help.:D

IC: "Well...How should I put this... DO you like her?" Kasey but in.

OOC: Awwww... thanks for the help, Sis! :D

IC:

Merry-

Merry stuttered, he was not sure how to answer their question. In truth he liked her more than words could explain, but a part of him wished to tell her himself. He then ended up only mumbling,

"I.. Umm.. no."

He felt bad, he knew what he was saying was a lie. But he found that he wanted to tell her on his own time.

Frodo-

Frodo looked at Kasey a moment, a sick feeling arose inside of him at Merry's answer. He was saddened at the thought of bringing Arla ill news of his feelings. He now turned to look back at Merry,

"You don't?"

Merry-

Merry only simply nodded, turning quickly away from the others. Avoiding eye contact as much as possible. He now took Eastà by the hand again,

"Come on, Eastà. I believe your mother shall be wondering where you have gone off to with me for so long. We should be going now."

"Merry?" Kasey said.

Arla over heard and climbed out of the tree and ran off crying.

Merry-

Merry hesitantly stopped, looking back over his shoulder as Kasey came running up to him. He then said quietly,

"Yes, Kasey?"

Distantly he believed he heard the fading sound of footfalls on the forest floor and the quiet sobs of a person far off. But he was not sure if it was only his imagination getting a hold of him, or someone really lingering in the woods.

Frodo-

Frodo intently watched Kasey approach Merry, hoping that it would go well and the maybe just maybe she would get a different answer out of Merry than before.

Pippin-

Pippin, who was still confused about all he had seen and heard moments before, awaited silently listening. Thousands of questions had poured through his mind the whole time, but for once he decided to hold them back for awhile and spectate the scene that unfolded before him.

"Are you sure you have no feelings what so ever for her?"

Merry-

Turning back to look at the road ahead, Merry answered,

"I'm not sure of anything right now, Kasey."

With that he took a few steps forward, only looking back one last time with a soft thoughtful gaze. He was not sure if what he was doing was right, but he knew that soon time would mend the wounds he may of caused. He would tell Arla.. eventually.

Frodo-

Frodo now came over to Kasey, who now stood still staring off in the direction Merry had left, her long dress flowing behind her in the fall breeze. Frodo gazed at her a moment, then asked filling the silence,

"What did he say?"

Pippin-

Pippin shook his head, grumbling after he had watched her friend flee from the scene,

"He failed to even wish us a farewell."

He then asked, with a frown,

"What has gotten into that Brandybuck?"

She giggled.
" I thought we where going to look for Mummy?," She ask

Merry-

Merry patted her on the head, the smile still planted on his face,

"All in good time, Eastà."

He looked around, a bit lost as to where he was,

"Now.. do you know where your mother may be? I seem to have lost my sence of direction a bit here."

Thick clouds now began to block the window of sunlight as a gray hue of color spread across the forest leaves.

She giggled.
" Just follow the music," She told him.

Merry-

A newly awaken melody of sweet music now seemed to sound within the maze of deep trees. Following the quiet sound Merry began slowly leading Eastà through the woods, suddently he reliazed music began to start coming in all different directions. A trick of the enemy no doubt. Tossing his head back and forth, his mind began to ache as the music became more tiresome upon him. A great burden began to lift upon his mind as he listened more and more, and with his last bit of strengh he placed his hands upon Eastà's small ears. Her gentle eyes now wide with fright, as he fell to the ground in a blur. The world seemed to swirl around him in a confusing sea, until all went black and he heard and saw no more.

After what seemed like an eternity he awoke. He was somewhere else. Though he remembered not of how he had gotten here. He seemed to be in a large room, filled with cruel laughter. He attempted to move his hands, they were bound and sore. Catching a reflection of himself in a nearby shield that hung on the wall, he shuttered. His right eye was now completely black and his hair was matted in dirt stained clumps. His mind now began to wander as he thought of Eastà. Was she safe? Scanning the room he found no sign of the girl, so all he could hope now was that she had run from the enchanting melodies of the woods.

"Well I think he does like her somewat." Kasey said. Arla was sobbing back at camp. She brushed them away but they kept coming back.
