^Don't ask... ;)

This is the first story of mine that I have posted on TDL, so bear with me. It's not one I've previously wrote, but one just off the top of my head. So yet again, please understand any typos.

Enjoy! Thanks,
-Sarah

Lacara croutched behind a bush nearby. Her eyes shown green in the dark night. She watched as a note was handed by the messanger to the mysterious cloaked man.Who is he? she wondered to herself. Suddenly the man vanished. The messanger gasped, but shugged his shoulders and rode off into the darkening horizon.

This wasn't the first time Lacara had witnessed the appearance of this myserious person. The first time was only about two weeks earlier. She had been just taking a walk when she heard someone behind her. She ducked behind a tree as the man walked past. She didn't know who he was, but she was determinded to find the answer and pull off the mask. But it was getting late and her mother would be worried. The seventeen year old girl ran back to her small home. The two room hut stood in the middle of the Karita woods.

About 15 minutes of hard running she came to the humble cottage. She quietly opened the door. It was dark inside and everyone was asleep, but she knew the house like the back of her hand, so it was easy for her to find her bed roll. She laid down and slowly, after much thought about the man, fell asleep.

Except for the typos, it sounds good to me! What's the story line, anyway? :D
Well, my sister, there's no real story line to it. I'll just go where my fingers lead me. Yeah... there's probably a TON of typos... I'm really bad with that.

Thanks, ES. I like the title, alot. HAHA.

I've been told I really had a way with words so I wanted to see what you guys thought of my writting. I've already had a great response with my lyrics, so I wanted to throw some of my fantasy writting out there.

Thanks! I'm glad others have typos. I'm not good at catching them at all....

Here's more....

-------------------------------

The next morning Lacara opened her eyes, well rested. Outside she heard a bird chirping. Her mother must be still in bed and her baby brother must have still been asleep also. It was quiet, still; too quiet. Any other morning her mother would be up, busy making breakfast, by this time. Lacara pondered these thoughts for a moment when she decided she'd better check on her brother.

She stood up, sleepily and walked over to his cradle. There, Takacon, or Taka as they called him, was still asleep, his green eyes closed. Lacara smiled as he squirmed as something happened in his dream. Lacara walked out to the main room. She looked down to her mother's empty bed roll. She walked to the door and peered out. Her mother wasn't outside, either. She must have just gone to find some berries or something for breakfast. she thought as she brushed any doutbs from her mind.

I'll work on it here soon.

--------------------------------

Lacara eased her worries by taking care of the Taka and making breakfast for herself. But it wasn't until hours later when her mother returned. She walked through the door, her black hair knotted and her tan skin, white as if she had saw the dead walking. She had just made it through the door when she collapsed, barely making it into a chair. "Mother?" Larcara asked axiously, comforting the crying Taka. Her mother didn't respond. Lacara lay the crying baby down on her mother's bed roll and she quickly walked over to her mother. "Mother?" she asked again. She slowly pushed back her mother's long black hair from her eyes. "Lacara..." she said putting her hand on her daughter's shoulder. Her mother, Jaode's black eyes were clouded as if some vision of the past or future were playing in front of them. "Take your brother and get out of here. Don't look back." She stared strait into her daughter's eyes, so like her own.
"But mother..." she started confused. Suddenly there was a loud noise outside of the hut.
"It will soon be too late. Get out of here," her mother commanded sternly, yet absently mindedly. Lacara didn't question her mother this time.

She grabbed her brother and a sack in which she threw bread and some salted pork and some other provisions. "Don't leave by the door... the back window." Her mother said nodding towards the other end of the hut. Lacara nodded understanding. She grabbed her long cloak and crawled out the window, carrying Taka. She heard footsteps, heavy footsteps getting closer to their home. Lacara, suddenly frightened, began to run. She didn't look back. Behind her she heard screams. The screams of her frightened mother. She turned around, no longer could she spot the house in the dense wood, but she could smell smoke and see an orange glow above the tree tops. "Mother..." she cried. She fell to her knees, weeping. She now her laughing; loud, cruel, laughing. And it was coming her way. She soon found her footing and began to run again, as fast as her feet would guide her.

EDIT: No way! I didn't... did I? WOW! That really says alot about my writting... I guess. :p Unless you're like me and just cry at the dumbest stuff... then it really doesn't say much.

---------------------

Lacara woke, sitting instantly, in a cold sweat. "It was just a dream..." The past few night she had been having the same dream over and over. She had no idea why her mind suddenly decided to play the cruel event of her past over in her mind. That was three years ago. She was now 20, no 21; today was her birthday, she remember. But just like any other year it would just be forgotten. Lacara glanced arcross the room to where the 4 year old, Taka slept. Ever since that horrific event in her life she had taken care of herself and her young brother, by every means nessicary. They lived in a room off of a farm house, which she rented. But this month her rent was due, and she knew it, but she didn't have the money right now, it was either the room... or the food. She ignored the rumbling of her stomach even then. Lacara looked out the window at the dark night sky; the postition of the moon. It was a little past midnight, she figured. She lay back down and closed her eyes. But her mind was running too much for her to sleep. She rolled her eyes and rolled over to the other side. She couldn't sleep there either. Sighing, she stood up and grabbed her black cloak and slipped her boots on and quietly opened the door. She snuck out of the house.

Lost in thought, Lacara looked down the dirt road. She began to follow it, her feet leading her where ever they wished. She walked awhile until she came to the mouth of the woods. She sighed, as she neared the familiar place. But she continued, ignoring the fact that she was drawing to the place of her gory past. She followed where the road took her. All of a sudden she heard footsteps behind her. She quietly ducked out of the way, just in time to be hidden from a cloak figure walking up the road. Lacara gasped; it was the man. She had not seen him since that dreadful night. But she was sure that danger lurked where he went. Suddenly he whipped his head around, staring strait at Lacara. He held that postition for a few moments, as Lacara didn't dare breathe. But then he just continued on his way. He must not have saw me... she thought, whipping the forming beads of sweat from her brow. She stood up and continued back to her home; the spare room.
