I also forgot to mention The Kane Chronicles by the same author who wrote the Percy Jackson series. I don't remember his name at the moment.

Rick Riordan, a very talented writer. I have read only "The Red Pyramid" which I found entertaining and, as with the Percy Jackson series, educational. I have remembered the mythology I learned years ago in school so much easier having had it taught in story form, and my 12 year old son can now go on to jetpunk.com and pass quizzes on Olympic or Egyptian mythological characters so much better than I ever could at his age. What a great way to teach.
