Best Disney Villain?

My choice would be Maleficent; she's the scarriest of them all and really portrays evil, pure and simple. Though I have to agree some with most of you and add some points to Scar.

Maleficent and Scar are really different in their evilness, the first being the characteristical (sp?) view of evil, as something apart from 'good people', and the second showing that evil can live among ordinary people (or should I say lions? :p).

Just a note: curiously, the scene which frightened me mostly when I was little didn't have any villains; it was when the Beast rages at Belle, leading her to run off of the castle. ;)

I forgot about Frollo (sp?) too! He used to scare the heck out of me! *shivers* Im gonna say for me its a tie between him and Jafar. I cant quite decide which one is more psychotic and scary. :p

This is a pretty old thread but,...
I'd say for me it is a toss-up between Scar from "The Lion King" and Frollo from "The Hunchback of Notre Dame". Scar because of his willingness to kill his own family without a second thought, and Frollo because of the creepiness and his corrupted motives behind his actions.

Well everyone has said my favorites, ( Scar being the best especially with his being based off of Claudius in Hamlet, plus Jeremy Irons was so creepy!)

My others would be Oogi-Boogie in Nightmare Before Christmas ( he's was gorss, and well, kinda like Jabba the Hutt in Star Wars)

But the best by far... Man in Bambi. The subtlty with "Man" was perfect. You didn't need to see Man to know he was in the forest. The art of subtlty is something that is lost on modern films.

The Horned King.

As a child, there was no greater single image of evil and villainy than this creature. While Disney managed to butcher the Chronicles of Prydain in a lot of ways, the Horned King stood as the ultimate pinnacle of Disney villainry. A sorceror of sinister motivation whose green skin clung closely to his bones, two menacing horns protruding from his hooded skull, he was neither afraid to kill or raise the dead. His instrument of destruction, The Black Cauldron, brought the dead warriors of his palace to life, ushering them forward at his dark bidding.

Yes! By far the Horned King! He is way creepier than Maleficent. Here is a photo of him:

Well, my favorite Disney animated film of all time has been Peter Pan, so I really like the old lovable Captain Hook.

Best villain huh?

There are several really good choices for this title.

Scar from Lion King would probably top my list, simply because he created an elaborate scheme that involved murdering his brother and nephew and ascending the throne (er, rock?) himself. He made an alliance with the known enemies of the lions and drove the pride into a state of despair and famine.

Malificent from Sleeping Beauty certainly earns her own recognition, seeing as she is the only Disney villain to turn into a giant, fire-breathing dragon. Certainly, she is the most intimidating villain.

Jafar from Aladdin and Shere Khan from Jungle book would probably tie for third on this list. Both were very intimidating villains, but were undone by a small oversight. (Jafar's being bound by his lamp, Khan's fear of fire).

Ursula from Little Mermaid would be next. She was scary and powerful and had a great scheme. She just didn't have that "coolness" that a lot of Disney villains have.
