\ \ \ \ \ \ Some of you will have seen my story-in-progress "The Land of the Fractured Rainbow." Set on a sort of Earth-variant, that novelette portrays two men hailing from a civilization at approximately a medieval stage of development. Theocrites and Alacles go on a sea voyage to explore new lands. As they go, they talk about nations and heroes predating their generation by three centuries: as if knights of Richard the Lion-Hearted swapped stories about King Arthur. Prominent heroes in that earlier generation included a swordsman called Prince Yu'ura and a kung-fu master called Mo'ajin. Mo'ajin aided the virtuous Yu'ura to supplant evil brother Koya'anu as heir to the empire of Yai-Kuan. Mo'ajin was assisted by the swordsman's sister Akiujai, and by a lady spy named Ipishudi, who also preferred Yu'ura as the next emperor.
Like the Star Wars prequel trilogy, the history reviewed by Theocrites and Alacles becomes a story in its own right: THIS story. Here goes!
