Brave is an animated fantasy film that is coming out this summer. I saw the trailer today before The Avengers, and it looks like such a fantastic movie. The movie is about a girl named Melinda who is brilliant at arching, and tries to keep independence, and be a free strong young woman, when her parents try to find a suitor for her. Melinda seeks an old woman for help, and in doing so gets a curse placed on her family. Strong willed and determined Melinda wants to end the spell before its too late.

I've know about this movie since forever, I"M SO EXCITED!! It looks brilliant. fjdkfjklafjdklajfkd;jfkdfjdskasdkfl;jKLSDJF;LKAJK;DLJF. I love this movie already I just listen to music from it I nearly cried. I'm a big Pixar fan so yeah.

Did I happen to meation to ya'll in the 2 years that I've known you that I am a fan girl? :p

I've seen the trailer twice, plus several of the TV ads, and I have to honestly say, this is one Pixar film I have 0 interest in seeing. The accents sound forced/fake, and the plot? Same as a lot of other stuff I've seen. Plus it looks like it's got some crude humor in it, which I don't pay to go see. Might see it on dvd, but not before then. Not one bit of interest in it whatsoever.

Time will tell on the plot I suppose, but on the whole I think this one looks rather promising.
As for the accents, they sound OK to me and I should know considering where I live!

I'm really looking forward to this one! From what I've heard and seen of it so far, it looks like they got the cultural aspect of it perfectly, which is very important to me because I take pride in my Scotch-Irish ancestry. The scenery of the film looks absolutely beautiful, very much the way I've imagined the homes of my ancestors to look. Furthermore, archery seems to be an important part of this film, which is a plus to me because traditional archery is one of my favorite hobbies.

Merida, not Melinda.

You're right. It is Merida. I must've been thinking of a different name when I put Melinda. I am glad you both are giving it high praise. I can't wait to see it!

After being off-line for a couple of months due to a house move I`m a bit surprised in finding that there has been so little comment about this film, both pro or anti considering this seems to be the main Summer fantasy release this year.
(Untill `The Hobbit` is released anyway.)
Personally I thought that, while it has some faults its rather good on the whole.

I loved it! My little sister said it was little kiddish. But that is what I like about it. I'm kinda sick of seeing adult things. It's nice to always have Disney. and Pixar is always really good. The music was my favorite. I bought two of the songs.

I really liked it too! It was a little, little kiddish but it did have it's moments. Like the bear, I am sure that scared some kids! The bear was freaking my 20 year old sister out!:p

There actually is a lot going on with the Bear when you think about it.
Mor`Du (or should that be Mohr Dubh, literally `Big Black`) must in fact be a couple of hundred years old by Merida`s time as well as being a Prince under a witches curse (or spell that went wrong).

I enjoy that type of fantasy too. As long as it's done right. The film looks marvelous. I just didn't have time to see it when it came out in theaters, because I was really busy with school.

I saw Brave!

I don't think it lived up to Pixar's other films, but the animation was gorgeous and I liked the story as well. (I loved Meridia's hair, it was just beautiful, and her little brothers were really cute.)

It took two years to make two programs to design Merida's hair. One of the programs made every curl look real. The other made her hair bounce, but also stay in place, and stay together. I thought the animation was amazing, they did such a good job.

My daughter and I really enjoyed seeing this film together -- it really spoke to family relationships -- and I'd like to see it again.

I've had my eye on this film ever since I first heard about it. It looks really interesting. A DVD buy for certain when it comes out. Love Scotland and its landscape - would really like to see that animated.

I'm a real disney fan at heart.

One thing we find out for the first time in this film is that Emma Thompson, apart from her other talents has a very good singing voice.
What makes this performance particularly impressive is that I don`t think that she is a native Gaelic speaker so she must have had to learn that song cold.

I think you got your information wrong. Emma Thompson is in the movie, but she plays the mother. Kelly McDonald played Merida. The singer for the songs is Julie Fellows. She wrote the Gaelic songs a long time ago, and she is a native speaker.

Emma Thompson did sing that song though.

Which is what I actually said in the post and I`m afraid you`ve just misread it a bit.
Emma (who is known as an actress rather than a singer) is singing in Gaelic, which I don`t think she speaks.
Julie, I think wrote that song (though it might actually be by Greg Boyd) and its her voce we here on all the other Gaelic songs related to this film.
The reason Emma sings `Noble Maiden Fair` is that this song is actually used in the film where we have a flashback scene showing Queen Elinor singing to a somewhat younger Merida.

Oops, my mistake. Some times I jump to conclusions to fast. I understand what you are saying now, and I'm sorry for the mix up.

Emma Thomspon did a wonderful job. She is a very good actress.
