Breaking News -- especially if you're American or British

there was a recent terrorist atempt in an airplane on it's way to the united states. good thing the officials were able to catch them before the plane even took off. they were aressted imideatley. right now, the british people are getting paranoyed (sp?) and pist off because they british government would not allow them to ride aboard a plane not unless you have a see-through bag. (like those plastics you usually buy in supermarkets...)

im not sure if you guys heard of this news. but i would just like to alret you, especially all British people. CNN news suspects it's an atempt of Bin Laden on the United States and England, being their number 1 allie (sp?). i dont really know what the complete story is about. i just wanted to alret you. t.y.
 
well from what we're being told here, the ringleaders were all british-born and there may have been up to 9 planes (?) planned, and 25 people have been arrested.

I don't think the people who were going to fly are annoyed (lets face it -everyone would rather not fly than be dead) but the security measures are extreme. For example, most flights are cancelled, but if you do get to fly, and you have a baby, and therefore babymilk with you, you haveto drink some infront of security members/flight staff so they know it's not harmful.

Hand luggage has been reduced to pocket-sized wallets/purses (no handbags) and essential travel documents. Things like you can take glasses on, but not a glasses case.

So yeah. Security has gone mental, loads of people are stranded at the airport, but all I can say is well done security guys for preventing it! It's caused mayhem, but no one's injured.

So yeah... explantion over.
 
Right guys ive just heard about this and i'm rlly upset cos my b/f is goin 2 america tomorrow and i hope he's goin 2 be safe i'm soo worried!! he's flyin from gatwick to florida.
Also my friend had a close escape as she flew from hethrow to montana yesterday morning :(
i just hope there both goin to be ok
 
the earliest planes will be flying out is this afternoon. Your bf might not even go if his flight is tomorrow, but after this, they won't let the plane go unless they're 100% sure it's safe, so try not to worry ^_^
 
most flights to/from england have been cancelled for today. so there is a good chance tomorrow's won't go either. Even if they do, like I said, they won't let them go unless they're sure they're safe.

Hey, guys - it's a war, and we're all targets. These guys serve Tash, or Barad Dur, if you prefer that mythological framework. They have no mercy, no morals, and seek only to impose their will on others. To them, it doesn't matter if the target is innocent - in fact, the more innocent, the better, as far as they're concerned.

The quicker you younger ones get accustomed to seeing the fight in those terms, the more equipped you're going to be to face down these monsters. Many of my generation, who still like to wear the rose-colored glasses they first donned in the 1960s, can't grasp that reality. We wander around pretending that this is a simple law enforcement problem, and if we arrest the right people, give them a "fair trial", and sentence them to rehabilitative therapy, then everybody will make nice and we can go back to monitoring our mutual funds.

But our enemies make no bones about what their goal is: they shout it from their minarets and publish it on their websites and broadcast it on their television stations. They intend to complete the job that they think stumbled a millenium ago: the conquest of the world, and the imposition of their will upon all mankind.

i agree. even the philippines is a target! we're the 2nd allie of the U.S.!!!:eek: we sholud all be careful..
 
Indeed! The Philippines are a serious target in this war, and have suffered greatly from the Islamofacists. Their people have fought long and bravely, and for longer than most in the West have even been aware that there was a struggle.
