I HAVE IT:

This one :eek: has bug eyes, right? And we all know that bug eyes are compound eyes, right? Meaning they're made up of many small eyes. Well, it just so happens that the :eek: eyes are made up of 42 compound eyes, and therefore :eek: is far better. Hurrah for 42!!!
 
I think that :rolleyes:'s eyes only add up to 40, seeing as it cannot be better than :eek: because you already proved conclusively that :eek: is better, and for :rolleyes: to be better it would have to have eyes that add up to 42, so it must have less than 42.

Right?
 
Uh...wrong. Bigger is not nessesarily better; perhaps the smaller the number, the better? Or it could be that any number other than 42 is inferior...
 
I think that was the point. 42 is the perfect number. However, Olorin did NOT include the possibility of :rolleyes: 's eyes adding up to MORE than 42...'twould still be inferior to :eek: , of course, because it wasn't 42...
