Cat with glasses and a moustache

Near the end of the movie during the coronation, the camera pans the audience and there is a cat to the left of center that has what appears to be glasses and a moustache drawn on as if with a crayon or magic marker. It's extremely prominent and makes absolutely no sense in the context. Anyone know what that's about?

Maybe it was the crayoned marking that Edmund did when he went into the witch's house earlier on. Did anyone notice that he was painting a mustache onto one of the stone statues? It looked like he had grabbed black charcoal, but it could have been another color. I wasn't sure if it was a cat, but I will make sure I pay close attention when I go back to see the movie, on both points, because I didn't see what you're referring to.

It was the same cat Edmund had drawn on at the WW's house. I laughed when I saw it at the coronation with the mustache snd stuff still on.

yeah, when Ed first drew on the "statue" I was wondering if he was gonna be in it later, maybe to give Edmund a hard time.

When I saw him at the end I thought it was hilarious. I'm glad they added that.

Me and my Dad could not stop laughing at that part. That was so funny. We laughed when he drew it. I'm not sure but didn't Aslan laugh too?? I could be thinking of another part. Though I forgot who was standing next to the Mountian lion. The statue was a mountian lion by the way.

I was wondering about that too. Thanks for clearing it up now. It is humerous once I think about it but I was a little confused and I kept thinking "ok maybe I missed something.."

The actual scene of Edmund putting the glasses and mustache on the stone lion in the book is really funny, and I was kind of disappointed that they didn't include all of it in the movie.

What happens is that Edmund walks up to the witches castle, still sulking from being yelled at and ignored by his siblings, when he comes into the courtyard he sees the stone lion and hides from it, thinking that its a live lion. After a few minutes he notices that the lion has not moved, so he cautiously peeks out from behind his hiding place and walks over to the lion where he laughs and says "Stupid lion, I bet this is the great Aslan. It looks like the Queen's already turned him to stone. Boy, won't the others be disappointed!" After that he picks up the burnt stick and draws glasses and a mustache on the lion.

I was really happy to see the lion with glasses during the coronation ceremony. I laughed really hard at that part!

Oh right - I get it now. I dont think its funny, but then I do have a warped sense of humour.

I just didn't understand that when I saw it - I thought I'd not looked properly or something.

I am currently reading the book and in the chapter In the Witch's House when Edmund is at the courtyard he sees a lion who he thinks is Aslan and with a pencil he paints a mustache and a pair of spectacles. So maybe it was a lion you saw and not a cat.

it actually is shown in the movie when edmund draws the spectacles but as he's drawing them he's also brushing off the snow of the lion so its a bit confusing. still funny though. and I think the directors turned the stone lion into more of a mountain lion so as not to confuse moviegoers who have not yet read the books.

In the book the "other lion" is something like comic relief. The scene at the Witch's Castle is somewhat longer, and the other lion keeps reminding everyone that he's a lion, too - just like Aslan. :)

the cat is actually a mountain lion, and it's the one that Edmund drew on on his first vivit to Jadis' castle. and he used a burnt stick from a fire of long used ago.............

It wasn't until I saw the movie the second time that I realized that was what happened. It was a nice touch. I think it would be cool if they had a scene where the mountain lion went and talked to Edmund about it and made a joke like, "out of all the stone animals, you had to pick me." (I'm not good at coming up with jokes, i know that isn't a very good one).
