Cliques?

I find it really annoying how some people just generalize people into cliques or lables. It's just so unrealistic and kinda ignorant considering that EVERYONE is different not one person is alike, so how can you just say that "Oh she wears Abercrombie and Fitch so she must be preppy." or "That guy wears all black and shops at Hot Topic so he's one of those emo kids." Honestly I've been labeled as a prep, punk, poser, emo... just by how I feel like dressing one day. I'm so over labels....
AAAAAND I honestly don't believe that the whole clique-y things exist outside of movies or books. I know where I go to school theres really no cliques, it's just groups of friends that talk to anyone, or whatever. Does the whole Popular/Nerds/Emo/Jock clique-y thing really exist? Is it like that where you go to school?

In my school kind of
I mean the black kids hang out with black kids

the white jews are all friends

and the asians and nerds are friends

and then theres teh goth and emo kids

I myself hate labels So i usualy don't classify myself and my friends are vastly different
like one does theatre
one is in science olympiad
another one does art.
and one does sports.

My nephew likes black clothes. But only his scarf and his sweater are black. And he is stereotypes as emo while he isn't. Or gothic. It's so stupid people do this. But I think this topic should go to the stone table boards. It's a good topic for a discussion though

yes. this is so true. omg.
but i'm friends with alot out of every group - and i have clothes from hollister and hot topic. i mean one day i was wearing a band shirt and some black nail polish and stuff, and this kid comes up to me and goes "are you punk?" and im just like what the heck?!
i hate labels.
i hate them so much.
but they do exist in my school =/

Some people liked to be classed in a specific area, it gives them a name for themselves, that they are proud of. Like, if a kid is preppy, or a jock...usually they desire to be so. I personally don't like to put things in boxes either.

I use to live in a neighborhood where everyone was black 'cept my family. The kids across the street shouted and swore at us, but a family beside us forced their girl to play with my older sister who needed a friend. She didn't want to, because she was black, and we were white. She finally came over and since they became best friends. I guess the point is, stepping outside your comfort zone from the cliques and all the boxes to help someone in need may be one of the best choices you can make.

I'm home schooled so I can't say but I will say at my church there are defiantly groups! normally designated by age and/or gender it's really annoying!

I'm homeschooled too, Shadow_Kitty. At my church, there aren't many cliques, except if you count rebels vs. ppl who don't care much for being a rebel. It use to be bad, though.

Okay, so this is one of my outfits (one of my favorites actually :D)

So based on this how would you see me? Oh and I do have turquoise colored bangs. So yeah judge me how ever you like just based on how I dress.

Huh... I've been labeled nerd so many times I can't even count, and so people automatically assume that I'm not any fun and I can't play sports because I'm a nerd. As a matter of fact, I play basketball quite well. I hate labels.
What I wear... well people don't judge me by what I wear because I kind of wear a little of each. :D
One thing that bothers me is that I listen to rock music and people think that because I am black I shouldn't be listening to it, that I should be listening to rap. I don't like rap as much because there aren't many clean versions, but there are lots of clean rock bands. That's the label that bothers me most.

The clique thing does happen at my school... But my school is honestly the weirdest school on the planet. Don't ask why. You don't want to know. ;) For example the "nerds" are "cool"

I'm a nerd, but no one has realised it yet. Or something like that...lol! I have no idea...

The places where nerds...or smarter people, are popular? They usually are a WHOLE LOT harder on you.

My school doesn't really have labels like officially but we all do sort of have our "groups" but it's no like "oh you're _____ we don't talk to you" or any of that.

None of our school's "labels" Really have the average label names (ie; prep, goth, emo, nerd, popular) However my friends and I decided if our group was named we'd be the freaks. And we sport that name proudly. :D

Here is an example of an outfit I'd wear. (and own)

Shirt; http://www.slingshottshirts.com/images/BTF509j195.jpg
Jeans; http://cn1.kaboodle.com/hi/img/2/0/0/1f/b/AAAAAkHc0xMAAAAAAB-zjg.jpg
shoes: http://racquetdepot.com/images/head_tour_shoe_single_272127_whor.jpg (only dirtier)

occasionally a couple necklaces and that's it

I would say that at my old high school, there were most definitely cliques ranging from the jocks/athletes to the hang-out-with-the-athletes to the outcasts/Goths to the preps to the nerds/"slackers" to the skateboarders/independents to the non/everything cliques. I was in the last category, which really wasn't a category, because I knew and had friends in about every clique in the school. My high school was small though, only about 500 to 600 kids.

I didn't know everybody, but I at least knew most people on a name-knowing basis. I just never found myself identifiable with any one group, except perhaps the nerds or the smart people. But again, I never identified with a certain group, and I'm glad of that.

I was always "Grunge Bunny" or "Indie Sweetie"
and to the northerners "peach" lol

I had friends in every group there was. lol
