Deadliest Catch

This is one of my favorite shows, but I watch when I happen to catch it on TV. I like Dirty Jobs a bit more.

OK, this week's Deadliest Catch was pretty goofy. They spent a lot of time going back over what things looked like at the beginning of the season, and mostly divided up the new shots between the Northwestern, the Wizard and the Time Bandit. They even followed the Time Bandit on their cruise past the gravesite of the Hillstrand boys' father ...

But the previews for next week look smashing. Capt Phil seems to be having a heart attack or something -- he's in his bunk saying "I can't breathe!" one moment and next standing up and pressing a hand to his side in pain. His son has been worrying about his health all season. Wonder what happens?

yesh, phil gave ME a heartattack when I was watching that episode. MY sis, her friend, and even my MOM were watching it with me. (so was my dad, but he was in the front room) We were yelling at the tv " Phil, you numbskull! Go to the hospital! We don't want you die!"

(hey i may be a northwestern gal, (luv ya jake, sig and Ed! XD) but i still love the cornila maire.)

Our dearest Phil almost died because of a pulmonary aneurysm. His being tossded out of his bed during a storm didn't really have anything to with the pulmonary aneurysm. Although, it didn't help things. He has many broken bones. Wrist and ribs that I know of. He is really bad off. They don't know if he will make it. If he can get through two months after the accident then his chances of living are greater. As of currently [well this occured last season, they are filming this season now, so] he is just taking it day by day. He has to visit the doctor regularly, and so on.

Phil and Sig are basically the only reasons why I watch this show... so I hope all will be well.

Just got done watching the latest show. ^^

Edit - Just to show a little about aneurysms....
An aneurysm is a weakness in a arterial wall -it's like a water balloon. In general, they can increase in size without bursting the farther away they are from the heart, and the smaller the artery. A weakness in the aorta or pulmonary artery bursts easily because the blood pressure is highest in these locations, so even a small aneurysm might eventually rupture in these locations.

Yah! I saw that with Phil and his blod clot -- he was talking about it on that program which comes on after Deadly Catch. But when did they film that? Is he still sick? The accident/aneurysm happened in January, so it has been several months.

here's who I don't like on the show:

* Sten Scar of the North American. He hadn't been fishing in years, but decided to start fishing this season so he could be on TV. I think that's lame, and I don't like those dumb things he wears around his head.

* Murray, Phil's engineer/back-up captain. I don't know why I don't like him -- probably I would just prefer to see Phil back.

* Keith. Sometimes he's OK, but he's quite volatile and seems to make strange decisions ... like delaying their launch for six hours until he could find a cup o noodles and cursing out all the guys just because the fishing was poor and telling his brother they were no longer brothers!

I think that one oldest son of Phil's is really cute. I would like to see their mother, because the boy does not look that much like Phil ...

I think Sig is a huge mercenary and only cares about making money. Just my impression.

Wait, Jake or Josh? I think the younger boy is okay, but I like the looks of the older boy, who I think is Josh.

So the season is over I think -- did anyone see the episode where the Northwestern was dragging for their lost anchor, and they caught it, but then the weight of it was about to pull the boat over on its side? Sig was leaning out the window of the wheel-house, watching the boat keel, and freaking out. He was just standing there going, "Whoa! Nooo! Whoa!" as if that would help ... He's nutty sometimes.

Wow, way for me to find this thread now...
Deadliest Catch is my 2nd favorite show after M*A*S*H and before American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance?
The Cornelia Marie is my favorite, and I was so worried for Phil this season!
Last summer I went to California with my family, and we ate King (my favorite), opolio, and dungeoness crab. I don't think I had any dungeoness because the legs were hairy, but it was really good! The owner knows Phil and was actually up visiting him when the Cornelia Marie had to come back because one of their propellers was broken, and they ordered the wrong one for Phil. The guy was on the dock when they were shooting this and he and his friend had to sign that Discovery Channel could show them if they decided to use footage with them in it. They didn't, but it was still really cool to talk to the guy! We got our picture taken with him. The owner buys crab from the Cornelia Marie and 3 other boats, so I'm happy that we could support them!

Basically everyone in my family watches it but me, I just don't find it that interesting lol I mean its cool and all but I just would that watch star trek or something

Now the season is over. Crunchine, that is so cool you got to eat crab that you knew where it came from! My sis was grilling crab legs for her birthday and was wondering which boat caught them ...
