Over the years I have had some very satisfying hobbies. I get very passionate about them. Firstly I collect Knives; I love beautifully crafted knives (sheath knives, pocket knives etc.) I used to collect toy soldiers and lead fantasy figures like Orcs, Elves etc. I have a passion for Art and Nature. I studied Art and occasionally still draw and would love to have the space to paint large abstract oil paintings again.

I've been a gamer all my life too. I used to play AD&D but now and for the last 20 years I have been playing a very complicated WWII board wargame. It thrills me! It is beautifully designed, with beautiful maps and counters and a 500+ page rulebook. It is the best game ever IMO.
 
About the only hobby I have now is writing fanfiction. I enjoy it mainly because I'm able to make the story follow what *I* want instead of having to be satisfied with what someone else decides.
 
Reading, editing home videos and writing...

Starting to write a novel/short story at the mo for the first time... boy! I commend all you writers out there! its hard work!

you know, I never thought I'd feel like not reading a book that I wanted to read, but man. After the last 4 years of college, reading is something I almost don't enjoy anymore! :( I mean, I fell in love with Hunger Games during college, but I suppose that now that I have the time to read, I just don't want to. It hasn't helped that immediately after college, I had 2 big exams to study for (covering a LOT of material!).

Sad, isn't it? Maybe I need some therapy to get me back to my love of reading! :eek:

this is a great thread :) i have many hobbies but i'll just share some of what i like to work on, i like useing Paper dolls from the Makeing Friends website to make centerpieces & decorate greeting cards, since i've retired early i'll have more time, i also like to make things out of clay includeing clay that dries fast :) i also like glueing gems onto things, & makeing things for Thanksgiving & Christmas

Hmmm hobbies:
museum hopping, reading, collecting Nativity ornaments, hand crafts, playing piano for choirs or praise team (does that count as a hobby?)
 
I enjoy swimming, especially in the sea or in rivers. I am also a keen, but not very skilled bodyboarder. The problem is that I live in the midlands, as far from the sea as one can get in England, so have very few opportunities to practice.

I enjoy playing Chess and Dungeons and Dragons, the latter as a Dungeon Master. I only do so occasionally these days, as it is very difficult getting a group together.

Most of my Dungeons and Dragons was in the 1980s, so I use the original D&D and AD&D rules, with one or two of my own ideas. The only Drow adventure I ever used was the Lair of the Spider Queen (I think that was the title). Ones we did use included 'The sinister Secret of Saltmarsh' trilogy, 'The Tomb of the Lich King' and many from the earlier issues of 'White Dwarf'. I also created my own adventures from time to time. Recently, I visited some friends in the northeast, and we had a game set in the world of Elric of Melbinone, in which they were employed by a magician, exiled from his homeland of Pan Tang, to destroy a rival's tower. However, despite the evil nature of the owner of the tower, the adventurers discovered the hard way that their employer had his own questionable agenda!
 
Have you heard of Judges Guild? They used to publish adventures alongside TSR. Their best one was called "Dark Tower" by Paul Jacquays. It was *superb*. He did another great one called "The Caverns Of Thracia". They can be found on eBay from time to time. Well worth the investment.
 
Yes I do .I have the 6 inch action figures of Frodo, Sam, merry, Pippin, old Bilbo, and Bilbo from the Hobbit... oh, wait you asked about Hobbies, not Hobbits. Never mind. :D;)
