I've been a fan of Doctor Who since 1980. I have seen every episode of the classic series that still exists on tape and had read the text of those shows that no longer exist on tape. I am looking forward to seeing how Peter Capaldi will play the Doctor.

Hi! Sorry to jump in, but I just wanted to say that Doctor Who is one of my favorite shows. I met Karen Gillan at Emerald City Comicon about a month ago and she was just lovely.

"Sorry to jump in"? I invaded the thread when I first got into this show. xD
That may have been because I finished season 4 at midnight the day before I went to Europe. Jeeze, I thought I was remembering that little detail incorrectly. Nope.:p
*sigh* I wish I could meet Doctor Who actors. That'd be great. Sadly, I am poor and have no money to spend on such frivolity as the events at which I would meet such people. xD

All Whovians are welcome!

How cool to meet Pond! :)

You may not know this but my husband makes and sells pens. The other day at the art show (they are art pens) a guy suggested we make a sonic screwdriver pen so I showed my husband some photos and suggested we try it. I know you can buy them already, but this will be a custom-made hand-made one. I can't wait! I will post a photo when he finishes. In the meantime, you can look at his pens online at www.pensbymike.com if you would like to see some of his work. The sonic screwdriver will be something totally different!

Those are really cool! Thanks for sharing!

In response to Dani- I heard that con was fun! I would love to meet her. I did meet her friend Arthur though, he's pretty chill.

I would like to see the sonic screwdriver pen when it's done! I do like the Texas flag one! Do you think he could make one with the British flag? The bullet point would probably have to be something different, maybe Big Ben or something like that.

I got him a sonic screwdriver from thinkgeek.com, but after looking it all over, he didn't see how he could make a wooden or acrylic pen that looked enough like that to be attractive to a Whovian! I am so disappointed. The one I ordered came with several parts from 3 different models, and you could put your own special one together ... but my husband thought it was too complicated. :(

We have a broker who does the laser cutting of the star for the Texas flag -- I will ask if he can make a British flag, BK ...it might be heck to glue together though.

The other day at the craft show a guy stopped and bought a rattlesnake bullet pen -- he was a British guy on his way to the shooting range here in Houston! He apparently travels here for business a lot and always rents a hand gun at the range here as he is not allowed to own a hand gun in Great Britain. He was very happy with the bullet pen and loved the rattlesnake!

That's so cool! I got to meet Karen Gillan AND Matt Smith at a comic convention in my city earlier this month. It was easily the greatest day of my life! :D

By all means CG, come back and tell us all about it! Some pictures would be nice too... pretty please?

The whole weekend was amazing. Karen was at the con that Saturday and I was able to get her autograph right away in the morning. I was geeking out so much it was hard for me to think of what to say to her. I ended up commenting on her hair. Then later that day was her Q&A panel, where she took a selfie of herself and the entire audience before starting to ask questions. I actually got to ask her a question. I asked her what her scariest role was in honor of her new movie Oculus. She said that one of the scariest things that she had to do was on the set of Doctor Who for the episode "The Beast Below" and that she had to ride down a slide to make it look like she was falling into the Beast's stomach. She also explained a prank that Matt Smith did to her on set that involved a shoe horn, and the whole audience decided to pull a prank on Matt Smith at his panel the next day. Then right before her Q&A panel ended, Michael Rooker (star in Guardians of The Galaxy which Karen Gillan is also in) came in and totally crashed her panel by walking across the stage. He even helped her answer the last few questions. Then the next morning was my dual photo op with both Matt Smith and Karen Gillan. I kept breathing heavily and freaking out, and I actually had to have someone pinch me because I seriously thought I was dreaming. Before I knew it, I had my photo taken with both of them, and I was off to get in line for his Q&A panel. The line for his Q&A panel was loooooong! It stretched the entirety of the convention center. Luckily for me I was doing the dual VIP experience so I could stand in the VIP line and be guaranteed a spot. Not too long after standing in line the doors to the panel opened, where I was able to score a front row seat in the VIP section! :D Matt Smith was absolutely hilarious during his panel. He did a great job answering questions and even find new answers to questions he had all ready been asked earlier. He was even asked questions about soccer and then complained about us Americans calling it soccer and not football. He was also asked a question about his upcoming role in the new Terminator movie. At one point he was even asked to make the TARDIS noise and to do an American accent. Those were hilarious! After the panel was done, I went over to the autograph line and stood in the VIP line waiting to get his autograph. Eventually he came out and the autograph line began to move quickly. When I got to the autograph table I told him that he was my first Doctor, and HE WOULD NOT STOP LOOKING INTO MY EYES THE ENTIRE TIME!!!!! *goes into a fangirl mode* After that amazing moment, I went back to the photo ops line to get another photo with Matt, since I had purchased a ticket to get a photo with just him (it was weird standing in the general admission line after doing VIP all weekend). He even commented on my fez the second time I had my photo taken with him!
The whole day was surreal, and it felt like the whole day was just a dream. The only thing that is reminding me that this day actually happened were the photos.

It is so good to see all these wonderful pics! I know exactly how it feels. I met many of the Who cast last year and will do again in either Sept or Oct when I'm going to the next Cons. Sylvester is coming to Belgium in Oct and it would be madness not to go considering the fact I live near the Belgium border. I also have been listening to Paul McGann his audio books and they are so freaking cool! I really recommend those. Many characters of the past are dropping by and we also meet again with Susan his granddaughter. I have become a fan of Paul since I started to listen to the audio books. I can't wait for season 8 to start! I'm so extremely curious about Capaldi!

That's cool you got to do all that CG! Looks like you had a fangirl's dream weekend!:D Love the pictures! Good thing you commented on Karen's hair because she looks adorable with that short do.

CG, that is so awesome that you got to meet them! :D Thanks for sharing your pictures with us, and the story of how the event went. It brought a big smile to my face.

Yay! Thanks for the link -- I just posted it in my FB. Can't wait! The new Doctor looks amazing.

But I like River Song also. :)

The new series premieres three days after I start college.:D:p

Also, a couple of weeks ago there was a special screening of "Rise of the Cybermen/The Age of Steel" episodes along with an recorded interview with David Tennant that was actually happening at my favorite theater. This was one of my birthday presents. So, after a day at the college I'll be going to in the fall my parents drove all the way back home (well, to Erie, which is about 40 minutes away from our house) dropped me off at the theater then drove home. My dad came and picked me up afterwards.
I dressed up like this. In one hand I have my little TARDIS (that I made) and in the other I have my custom Sonic Screwdriver. I asked some of the other girls who were dressed up there to take my picture. The picture is rather bad quality because it was taken with a phone, but you get the general idea that I was very happy and excited.:D

Hey, yea, Mozy. I saw commercials for that theater event but I did not want to go. The episodes are not at the top of my list so I really didn't feel like paying to see them. I'm glad you had fun, tho. You look great.
