Oh, yes. Matt is a great Doctor. He did take the show by storm! But David remains everyone's favorite. Probably because he appeals to young and older female viewers alike. And I think that for most guys, David is the Doctor that we all wanted to be or are in some way. I identify with him more because he was older and seemed a bit wiser and funny at the same time which are some of the qualities that most of us either have to some extent, or would like to have.

I agree with you. Matt is amazing, very goofy. David is more serious, but still very funny.

I still remember back in 2010 waiting for the first episode with Matt Smith. I wanted to see if Matt would be a great Doctor. Boy was I surprised! I think my fears were eased in the first 5 minutes right after he came out of the crashed TARDIS. I knew then that Matt would make a great Doctor. After that first episode I believe the entire world fandom was relieved to know that the show would go on as strong as before.

The first episode of season 5 is amazing. Just rewatched it today. I love the scene where he is trying all of the food. Amelia is so sweet. Actually, the entire season was amazing, I think.

Yes it was! I also like the fact that they brought little Amelia back in later episodes. I missed that little girl. She was amazing in that first episode.

Amy is my favorite. Her and her younger self Amelia. I always like to see how the relationship of the Doctor and his main companion develops over the entire series. It's so sad to see them go after. I liked River at the beginning but later she started to annoy me. But overall I'm ok with how 5 and 6 went. We'll see how 7 goes next year!
 
I watched the show yesterday two times and today and I am about to watch another episode. Too bad SyFy isn't broadcasting it in the right order. But you know what?? I LOVE IT!!! :D I am going to order the DVD boxes so I can watch it. I love David as the Doctor. His Doctor is growing on me. I never expected this to happen since I never have been interested in the show at all. But my friend turned me on :D

Matt is my favorite doctor. I like David too, of course, but Matt is still my favorite. I'm not entirely sure how to explain myself, though. xD 10th is more of the popular type, whereas 11th is the mad professor sort, and I feel like 11th is just the embodiment of the Doctor on a number of levels. Also, Matt's acting is superb. This is not to say that David's wasn't, but Matt can somehow communicate a hundred different emotions just through his facial expressions.

Now I'll stop rambling, because I'm doing a horrible job of expressing myself. :rolleyes:

Rory is my favorite, followed by Amy.
How funny! River annoyed me at first, but later I started to like her. xD

MR-same! I like how much she loves Amy. I thought it was very sweet, and them we found out why.:p
Rory is great too. I love Amy, but Rose is my favorite companion. I miss her so much!
 
Matt is my Doctor, and I started with David. I don't know what it is about Matt, but even when he's being childish he has these fantastic EXPRESSIONS where you can see, while he's grinning on the outside, you can see the 900 years in his eyes, and all of the pain he's been through. I don't know, but I know I'm not the only fan who gets that vibe. He may be the youngest actor, but when you see him act there's no denying he's the oldest incarnation. The one who has seen the most.
 
It is always hard for an actor to replace someone who has been so beloved. People have all kinda expectations about not only the looks but also the acting skills. You see this so often. Even in movies like for example James Bond. people always have a picture in mind. David has played the Doctor for a long time and he did it with passion and I now see how people can easily get attached to him. But I don't think Matt is doing a bad job at all. He just went his own way and he does a good job

I quite liked Matt Smith at the beginning, but now I'm finding his mannerisms rather tiresome. Tennant was OK, I just wasn't that keen on the stories. The new series has a completely different feel to the old, and for all the Classic Series faults like wooden scenery and ropey special effects I still prefer it.

Peter Davison is, and probably always will be, my favourite Doctor.

Eccleston and Tennant had, for the most part, dreadful writing. Matt Smith has an advantage simply because his series are better to begin with.

I haven't seen any Old Who, but I definitely understand why you would prefer them.
 
I have seen the very first Doctor Who. Back in those days, one "episode" was really one story told in a series of sort of mini-episodes. Therefore, the very first Doctor Who episode "An Unearthly Child" is actually 2 or 3 showings. There is a YouTube channel called DoctorWhoClassics where you can still see ONE PART OF THAT EPISODE. Unfortunately, the BBC has now blocked most of the content there. I think I watched up to episode 12 after the defeat of the daleks. I think you can still watch episode 11 (S01E11) where you can clearly hear that the voice of the Daleks hasn't change at all since then. I've also seen about 5 episodes with the 5th Doctor.
I plan to watch more classic DW soon.

Tennant is my favourite doctor...he's the one I saw first. I think he's a terrific actor (he was great in Hamlet) and a brilliant Doctor.

I love Matt Smith, of course. He's completely mad, but I love him. I like Amy and Rory a lot as well, though my favourite companion ever is Donna. She and the Doctor were hilarious together. (I liked Jack Harkness and Martha a lot too.)

I keep going back and forth on River. I kind of like her but she kind of bugs me at the same time.

Well, at least I get to see some of it.

I think, in theory, that the first doctor you see, is the one that you like the most. It's the doctor that you fall in love with first, when you fall in love with the show. What do you guys think? My first Doctor was 10, David. I love him the most, Matt is amazing though!
