Douglas Gresham for Ramandu

He's had his share of cameos in LWW, and Prince Caspian and they were good, but in watchign the interviews with him I thought he'd make the perfect Ramandu. My first choices would be Patrick Stewart or Christopher Lee but well with Lee we'd only see Saruman all over again. And Partick Stewart would be better as a lost lord.

So what's every one else think? Gresham for Ramandu?

I dont know....Ramandu is an important part. Can Doug act? :o

I would like Ian McKellen, but we would just see ol' Gandalf

My thoughts exactly on Gandalf...err... Ian McKellen. Plus he'd be tied up in that "little" Hobbit movie as Gandalf, whcih will be realsing in 2010. Seeing him as a wizard or anything like it in the same year would be overkill.

That's the hard part with some of those quintessential wizard actors. Once they've done a similar role you only see them as it.

As for credientials he was the radio annoucner voice in LWW, may not seem like much to some but to do "radio" you have to infelt a lot more.

Well, if not him the other actor choices who could make a good Ramandu would be

Sir Richard Attenborough ( John Hammond in Jurassic Park). He's already done CS Lewis realted material ( directed Shadowlands movie), and he hasn't played a wizard yet. ( sorry Dumbedlore's out of the running too. )

Ian McDiramid ( Senator/Emperor Palpatine in Star Wars) put him in Wizard make-up and he'd be unrecognizable.

I agree with the idea that it should be an "unknown" actor for Ramandu.

We've all seen Ian McKellam, Christopher Lee, and Patrick Stewart in so many movies already. Same goes for Michael Gambon. Sean Connery would be cool, but 1) he would need too much money and 2) he's already been in too many movies.

Sadly enough, I can't think of anyone off the top of my head that I would want to play Ramandu, but I had never seen or heard of any of the cast so far (excluding Tilda and Liam), so I guess I will leave that job to the producers.

And Sean Connery is retired from acting and wouldn't even return to do Indy IV....Sad... he made LXG his last film when he could have done Indy IV and VDT.

They'll find the perfect fit most likely. Gresham would be good as Ramandu, probably, but I don't think he wants to have a full part on-screen. Ian McKellen would be excellent, but it would be like a cliche.

I think he'd do a great job! He's had lots of experiance in theater acting and radio.
His cameo for PC was the town crier proclaiming the birth of the new prince.

I like both of these suggestions. It'd be cool to see Ian McDiramid play a good guy :D But, whoever the producers decide will be the best Ramandu and I'm in.

Oh not his personality at all! Just how he looks. I think he would be better as some sort of king or something. He seems kind of royal rigid. I don't know exactly how to explain it.

Although, Douglas Gresham has a few minor roles in both films. I am not certain whether he would be up to the task of playing Ramandu but, he is an interesting possibility.

I have been thinking about the character and I have thought of a few possibilities which I will list in no particular order:

  1. Richard Briers
  2. Charles Kay
  3. Nigel Terry
  4. John Castle
  5. Peter O'Toole
  6. Michael Feast
  7. Barry Jackson
  8. Nigel Davenport
  9. Ian Holm

I love the idea of Ian Holm, But I'm worried it would look to much like Gandalf the 2nd...

I've said this before, but I'll say it again: If Charlton Heston was still alive and willing to do so, I think he'd be a great Ramandu. Everybody would probably keep on thining of Moses though if he did that (Watch "The Ten Commandments" if you don't know what I'm talking about. I'm sure some do, though! :D
