Favorite Scene From The Lotr Movies

and then a big flaming eye could roll on and say 'Ha! I'm not dead'

Oooh, I like this! Then Merry and Pippin can take it on, because they are obviously the real warriors (in the book they became the big heroes in the scourging of the shire) and probably Sam would rescue that fey Frodo from drowning before he joined in the fight, too.

It's not bad, we were just saying it seemed like there were a lot of "endings" to the movie, and by the time you got to the ships, you were kind of ready for some more action.

I was just wondering at the end where poor Radagast and Glorfindel were if this was the 'last ship into the west'. Did someone forget to leave a memo, or something?

I like the very very ending of ROTK, but then again i dont. Everytime i still watch it, i ball my eyes out. It is soooooo sad, it just makes me cry and cry. I go on crying almost 5 mins after the movie is over sometimes. I heard that they had to do that scene bout 4 times, and each time they hated it. Well first of course to film it, then 2nd b/c Sean Astin wasnt wearing the right vest, 3rd b/c the lens was blurry, and there was another (i think) but i cant remember what it was. I felt so sorry for them when i found out bout that, they said they just had to spend the whole day crying and thinking of sad things and was just a downer day. Poor fellas.

Ha, I find that funny. Imagine taping that mess day after day ... it would be awful. I don't know why it made me laugh to think about it ...

do ya live in St Catherines?? half my family (all 300 of them) live in St Catherines. the rest live in Sask. having cow-tipping contests...and yes, a cuz from sask says thats all she does :D

id want to c the hobbits fight with eachother, just to c who'd win!!! :D

Yep. I'm a St.Catharines girl! Not sure what to call myself...we had a contest to see what term should be used to describe a St. Catharines resident but they all sucked. St. Kitster or St. Catharonian or something dumb like that. :o

Maybe in the Houses of Healing, instead of being all gummy and mushy, maybe it could have been a bit sadder or have Frodo tell Sam he just wants to go home. Then the return to the Shire wouldn't have felt so superfluous.

I liked that bit where Frodo awakened and every one came into his room and they were all laughing and romping on the bed. What I would have liked at the end was a little goodbye to Legolas and Gimli.

And another fight.

Yes, I was dissapointed by that too! It was like they kinda just disappeared or something... A proper farewell was definetely needed. I also wish that they would explain the little love story between Faramir and Eowyn, but I guess the movie was getting long enough as it was!

Yea i know, same here. I was really dissapointed with the houses of healing scene. It was what, not even 5 mins long. For goodness sake, they get married, and that part is actually in the book. Unlike the love story bout Aragorn and Arwen. They have a whole chaper with Faramir and Eowyn, they deserve more than 5 mins.

I also couldn't beleive that they made a totally different ending---

Movie version: Aragorn becomes king (yay), no goodbyes to the rest of the fellowship, hobbits go home, Frodo goes sailing away, the end.

Real book version: Aragorn becomes king (yay), goodbyes ACTUALLY HAPPEN, hobbits go home, Saruman and his orcs have taken over the shire, there is a battle, THEN Frodo goes sailing away, THEN the end.

I guess if they actually put in the real ending the movie would be four hours long or something ridiculous like that... but hey who cares?!? I wouldn't complain. But I love the movies, even if they did leave out some *cough* *cough* important stuff...

Yea i know same here. PJ didnt even think bout making the Shire scene, just b/c he never liked that scene. Well let me tell you, that was probably one of my favorite chapters in ROTK. And who cares if it would have been longer, no LOTR fan would complain. And the people who do, well who cares, they arent true LOTR fans then. But overall the movies were very good. (more like awesome!!)

Very true... true LOTR fans don't complain about 4 hours of lengthy tales about Middle Earth... they cheer!

PJ also cut out Tom Bombadil. He wasn't really an integral part of the plot, but still, the whole issue in the barrow-downs and stuff concerning Tom took up about 3 or 4 chapters. What's up with that?

It was too much to get all in, even with three movies! But I think PJ's interpretation was as good as could be without being 16 hours ...

I don't think anyone would really mind if it was long, as long as everything was included. I was really indignant when they cut the scouring of the shire chapter - it was important in showing even the happy, secure place of Hobbiton could be affected by evil. The worst was when they cut the Faramir/Eowyn love story. It is one of my favourite (hence my name) ands deserves more attention! Humph!

I agree, completely agree.

(remance--when i went to see ROTK opening day we [my group of 3 other friends] were the first ones in the Theatre. Then when the time was 3pm, the Theatre was full, and the show began. The people were cheer and clapping. Wow it was a great day in history, when LOTR lovers all come together.)

Sadly, I did not get to see ROTK until a few days after it came out because I was studying for some very important final exams. HOwever, even though it had been out a few days, the theatre was still packed and there was a line to get in. I did, however, go to the midnight premeir of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Wish I could have done that for the LOTR movies as well.

I liked the begining when there was no fighting and at the end when Gandalf crowns Aragorn king I cried when Frodo left Middle Earth

I also thought that it was awful that the ending was so different I thought that they should of stuck to the book
