Another fantasy world that I'm a huge fan of is Ghostbusters. Sure, it's mostly set in New York City, but the premise of a group of supernatural exterminators is one that I find very fascinating. It's one property that I've loved since I was a little kid. I understand it has some problematic parts to it, spiritually speaking as well as some adult humor from time to time, but this is one series that I can watch on repeat.

I'm a huge fan of Ghostbusters 1 and 2, The Real Ghostbusters, and Ghostbusters the Video Game. I enjoyed Ghostbusters: Answer the Call for the most part. It was like a live-action episode of The Real Ghostbusters. I'm not as big a fan of Extreme Ghostbusters because of the subject matter getting very dark (extreme).

The one movie that I've been looking forward to most, since the last Star Wars, has been Ghostbusters Afterlife. I simply cannot wait for that. And if things are still bad, I will probably have to wait for digital or home video release to watch the movie. As soon as it's available to pre-order, it'll be an instant buy for me, without question.

My appreciation for this franchise was also what led me to build GBWorldHub.com, which started out being about the Ghostbusters World mobile game, but after that game shut down, I started changing it into a website about all Ghostbusters games.

I have now watched Ghostbusters: Afterlife a bunch. I don't even know how many times. I put it on in the background when I am going to bed, and I have been watching tons of behind the scenes things.

Fantastic movie! Perfect end to the trilogy and start to the future.

Wow! Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire builds on the solid foundation of Ghostbusters: Afterlife.

And it even has a quick joke that mentions Narnia!

I continue to love this franchise. It's up there with my favorite franchises of all time.

I’ve seen Ghostbusters I and II, and Afterlife.

Dan Aykroyd who stars as Ray Stantz, who’s thought becomes the Giant Marshmallow Man, said in Netflix’s The Movies That Made Us: Ghostbusters Interview that his ancestor was an occultist and that he used ideas of his ancestors’ work as material for Ghostbusters.

That's mostly true. The word Aykroyd uses to describe his grandfather is Spiritualist. He was interested in the supernatural world, as Dan is.

The fantasy field has room, not only for sub-genres, but for SUB-sub-genres. One inner-infra-sub-genre is the concept, NOT that science can explain away supernatural events, but rather that science can EFFECTIVELY COMBAT OR HARNESS magical phenomena.

An old, old horror movie titled "Thirteen Ghosts," which was eventually remade, is founded on such a premise. The plot revolves around a scientist who achieves a SCIENTIFIC method of capturing and confining ghosts. And even earlier, I believe it was the old Universal horror film "House of Dracula" which depicted a doctor CURING Larry Talbott of being a werewolf by purely scientific means.

I have stepped onto the same ground for my Never-Stopping Story in the Writing Club. My version of Batman came up with a scientific means of thwarting magic: by inserting a brain-control device into a magical antagonist's head, so that the bad guy became UNABLE TO FORM THE INTENTION IN HIS THOUGHTS of using his magic for evil. The villain could still defend himself, but he could no longer START any conflict using his magic powers.

So, I wonder if spiritual energy can be measured in electron volts?

The packs used in this franchise are some sort of particle accelerator. What particle are they trying to accelerate? And to what energy level? The size of the backpack is awfully small for any kind of a synchrotron or even a cyclotron.

I remember the reference to Narnia in 'Frozen Empire' (which I liked a lot). I forget the context.

Yeah, that Narnia reference in Frozen Empire was awesome. And they also had a reference to Middle-Earth!

As for the cyclotron, that's exactly what the pack has in it. The particles, I believe, are neutrinos. The energy level is dependant on the class of entity that they are fighting.
