Give YOUR Movie review

You mean those dog things? I thought they did a pretty excellent job with those!

Wow, well, when you walk, things kind of move don't they? LOL.. That was a GREAT way to make you feel like you were the person in the movie! I really didn't even notice it until now that you mention it! It wasn't naive, only an effect.

Yes, the dog things. They were more like wolves in the book, and suffice it to say, none of them resembled any of the tributes as they did in the book. Epic fail with those, considering the original direction they were going to take with the muttations.

I understand the need to make you feel like Katniss, but a lot of people have complained that the shaking camera made them motion sick, and last night, I noticed it a lot more. It nearly made me dizzy.

Ahh, I understand now.. Yah that does sound like a letdown!

I'm sure Katiness was feeling dizzy :p

Have you read the book, Hyper? That would make a big difference in whether or not you knew what was going on. ;) I haven't seen the movie, so I'm not saying that your complaints are not valid. I'm just curious if you'd read the book in advance.

Really? You didn't like Peeta? He's the only character I liked in the entire series. He's the only one who didn't die, get psychologically ruined, and/or throw ethics out the window.

I thought the book romance was sweet, albeit awkward. Yet since I have not seen the movie, I cannot say whether it was good there.

Yah see, here are the contradictions of movie and book.

I have not read the books (and I planned to) but it was too tempting NOT to see it! I was rating this movie SOLELY on the movie and not the book.

Peeta was kind of a creeper in the movie.. My sister thought the same. His character didn't make sense AT ALL (in the movie)

Yah it was weird in this movie (the romance) I have no idea what they did wrong, but it was just weird!

I've read all three of the books. So when I was watching the movie I wasn't confused about things that others probably were. I didn't know they changed how the Mutts(as they're called in the book) were going to look different. It would be cool to know how they would look the original way. Peeta does go through some things in the final book. He does get ruined to a point. It just takes him awhile to get over what has happened to him, and the whole world around them.

I know. Everybody gets ruined to a point. *hates Mockingjay* But he was one of the characters who made the least shady ethical decisions.

I give you that. And even when he was being tortured by the capitol, he was still trying to protect Katniss and everyone else. I can't hate any of the books, because they all are terrific, and have the real emotions how people would react in situations like that. I know Gale probably got messed up, because of what happens in Mockingjay, and the little guilt he has for causing something to happen at the end.

SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Not all of us have read these XD

Sorry, Hyper! I'll put spoilers in light text.

Exactly.

I was very disappointed in how the author handled the love triangle. Instead of resolving it naturally, she made Gale act completely against his nature. His character was ruined, and I thought it was a shame. :(

I see why you like the books, and it is true that the dystopian themes are realistic. I just can't stand how depressing it is. If the book were written by a Christian, I wonder how it could have been handled better. How there could have been hope and God in the world instead of emptiness.

I've read somewhere that Foxface's real name was revealed in the movie. Does anyone know if that's true, or where the revelation takes place?
Was it really? I was wondering about that! I have absolutely no clue myself. ;) Yet it seems that it would be hard to have things from a third person perspective without her needing a real name to be called by.

I've read that Caesar Flickerman could've been the one to reveal it during her interview. But I just don't know?

It's possible her name was revealed when Cesar was introducing her in hte interview, but I couldn't make it out last night.

Besides guys, this is getting way off topic and this conversation should be moved to the Hunger Games thread. ;)

Yeah it did lol. But it made for some interesting talk lol. I don't usually read movie reviews, because I want to make my own thoughts up about something and not read what others say. Not that I don't like everyone's reviews. That's just how I am. Its the same way with books.

"The Woman in Black"

Alrighty, getting back on subject here.

Prominent Actors: Daniel Radcliffe (Arthur)

Intro: This is the first official "horror movie" that I had seen! I had seen tads of scary scene's from movies/TV shows, but finally I got to see a REAL HORROR movie! This movie was well done overall, and I really don't have too many complaints about it, although it wasn't the BEST movie I've seen, I walked away from it, although creeped out, content!

Positive Elements: The acting throughout was phenomenal, especially Daniel Radcliffe! I really didn't think he'd do a great job, but he was PERFECT for the part. The story was also really great, and I was so happy with the simpleness yet optional passages of complicatedness that were never entered. The directing was good, nothing that special about it, just plain old fashion horror movie directing! The jump scenes (although little) were great, and it was packed with some great scares!

Negative Elements: Negative? Hmmmm, there wasn't too much! I would like to mention that this story involved children committing suicide. With the story it sort of made sense, but not all the way. That's the weakest point, I think, of this movie. I really can't complain about anything else!

Summary: My first horror film! I enjoyed it very much so! This movie had more creepy kind of things rather than jumpy, and that was a nice change. Although this movie was carried out very well and there was pretty much nothing wrong with it, there wasn't anything AMAZING about it either! Like I said, it was enjoyable, but you left feeling like you wanted a tad more!

overall, I give this movie a 9-10. I was considering an 8-10, but really, there wasn't much wrong with it! If you don't like scary movies then DO NOT see this! If you love scary movies but can't stand a little blood, or children committing suicide (although it went with the story) then DO NOT SEE THIS. As long as you're fine with this stuff then I would advise you to see it!

Title: Left Behind
Year: 2001
Plot:
The Plot on IMDb: "The Biblical prophecy of Armageddon begins when the Rapture instantly takes all believers in Christ from the Earth. A reporter left behind learns that the Anti-Christ will soon take power."
My Opinion on the Plot: The Bible prophecy, known as the Rapture, takes place and all of the believers are taken into Heaven, leaving the non-believers behind to face the start of Revelations on their own. The story follows several non-believers who have lost loved ones to the Rapture and follows them on their journey to belief. Buck (Kirk Cameron) is a reporter that is made aware of the Rapture and the coming of the Anti-Christ finds himself face-to-face with the Anti-Christ himself.
Rating: 10
My Review: I loved this movie when it first came out, so much so that four years later when I watched the movie with my friends, I could recite almost every line verbatim. While I do not agree with all of the details as they pertain to Revelations and the coming of the Anti-Christ, I believe that when the Rapture does happen and the Anti-Christ does come, films (and the book series it was based upon) will be influential to those who are left behind.
For a movie that was supported by only Christians, there was very little in the movie that I saw as being cheap or weak. The acting was superb. The reactions were convincing and the message was powerful.
Overall, this movie has made it into my top 10 favorites!

Title: Luna Papa
Year: 1999
Plot: Tajikistan comedy
The Plot on IMDb: The unborn child of Mamlakat (Khamatova) is telling her story. She is 17, beautiful and vivacious, and dreaming secretly of becoming an actress. She lives with her father and brother (Bleibtreu) in a small village in Central Asia. One night she is seduced by an actor from a traveling troupe, who poses as a friend of Tom Cruise, and makes her pregnant. She tries to abort, but her father and brother become determined to find the seducer, setting in motion a cascade of comic adventures

Rating: 10
My Review: One of the best movies from 1990s. Some highlights are a cow falling from a plane and down in the water under a wedding. Another are women dressed up like fruits and vegetables under a theater play.
